Record Surround sound?

Hey Everyone,

I have 97.9 and an ATI T550 Pro card. Also, I have an optical out from my sound card to my sony receiver and 7.1 system.

When watching live tv, I can put the sony reviever in dolby prologic and (depending on the channel/show) get surround sound.

However, This never works with recordings (they record in stereo only). I looked at the capture settings for my profile but only saw bit rate / hz options.

Does anyone know of any way to record surround sound? Maye I need to get another codec?

prologic is derived from a stereo signal by your receiver. only dolby digital/DTS (as found on DVDs) is recorded with multi channels. The stereo recordings from your TV capture card are the same stereo channels that you're listening to live - it's only the setting on your receiver that is making them 'surround'
