That is one damn good looking skin. Would it be possible to make that skin for regular 4:3 sets as well? That's the best skin I've seen since Olbia.

i use
856x480 the resolution is good enough and the memory usage isnt as bad as higher res skins, and well runs faster aswell.

My god Dottore, this is a phenomenal looking skin! I can't wait for this to come out.

OMG Dottore! This skin is teh sex! I would be eternally grateful to finally have a true widescreen skin for my widescreen tv! Let me know if you need a tester.

Good work. So when's it ready? - looks like bluemce2 will get thrown when it does
I vote for the darker background - or having the extra files so users can change the background to a darker blue, like bluemce2.

dottore Wrote:i HOPE there will be some users interested in the skin ;-) as far as i know, i am the only one using olbia i'll just jump in here with my thoughts... i've got a 32" LCD with a native resolution of 1366x768, but my desktop is running at 1280x720 -- and unfortunately i voted a bit prematurely and chose 1366x768...because of my desktop size, 1280x720 would actually be better. @dottore: i use olbia, and love it. i would jump all over the opportunity to try this skin on my 16:9 32" LCD widescreen.... -pov.

i think, i will switch to 1280x720 then. the suggested 856x480 is too small, tipstirs 1280x1024 is too big and not widescreen.
let's see how the poll develops in the next 2 days. in the meantime i will make olbia 97.7-compatible ;-) thanks for the thoughts!

Well, Plasma is certainly less expensive than LCD at sizes > 42" Also, Plasma sets scale video much more cleanly than any of the LCD sets I have seen. I had a 37" LCD for a brief period; when I did NOT run in its native resolution of 1920x1080 the display looked horrid. Since I don't have much content in this format, the set was returned. I had figured typical LCD televisions would have good scaling technology (unlike LCD computer monitors) given that TV images come in so many flavors, but this is apparently not the case (at least with the sets I more fully investigated after the first, including MUCH more expensive ones). Plasmas, like CRT, do not seem as negatively affected.
