Hey guys,
It's 4:00 AM here and I've spent way too many hours banging my head against the wall, so I'm ready for some help. I've read, installed, uninstalled & experimented until I'm blue in the face.
I just bought a 52" high definition TV to go with my GBPVR system. I had to buy a new video card that had DVI output & ever since, things have spiraled downward.
I can't seem to get a set of codecs & settings that work. I'm having audio/video synch issues with live TV when using any of the VMR modes. When I use Overlay mode, I can't play DVDs or AVI files in Widescreen - I get audio, but no video. Overlay mode works great in 4:3 mode - everything is great except that I waste a large amount of my nice new TV (Top, Bottom and a significant amount of the right side as well.)
I'm running a Celeron 3.06 Ghz. 512 MB of RAM. Radeon 7K with S-Vid, D-Sub & DVI. I'm going from the DVI port with a conversion cable to HDMI that plugs into the HD TV. XP Pro w/ SP2, GBPVR 9709. I'm using an old copy of InterVideo WinDVD (5.x I think) and I think it's called "XVid Free" - the codec file name off of free-codecs.com is "XviD-1.1.0-30122005.exe"
I've downloaded & installed the Omega Drivers for the card. I've tried the wacky qaurtz.dll fix using version 6.5.1.902 which seemed to be the consensus for the "good version" I went back to the DX 90c DLL because the 90b dll didn't resolve my issue (I know, it's an old post, but I was desperate.)
If I use the WinTV program from Hauppage (I have a PVR-150 PCI) live TV works like a champ.
If I double-click on my AVI or play my DVD via Windows media player it works like a champ.
The Radeon 7K is the new addition. I was previously using a 4:3 aspect ratio with S-Video out from the PC's onboard video card.
My sound card (Realtek high def audio) is built in and has digital coax out that I'm running into my Onkyo surround sound.
I think my biggest problem is this: I need a good, slim, efficient, solid, stable set of FREE codecs that will allow me to run liveTV, avi, mpg & DVD from GBPVR. It would be nice if someone could point me to these codecs and give me some super-detailed instructions on how to make them work.
I know that GBPVR is just a wrapper & doesn't directly handle displaying video, but I could really use some help with this.
Sorry for not organizing the information better. I've been married for 2 weeks now and my wife is getting upset that the TV's getting more attention than her tonight... and if I spend another 10c on my theater she's gonna kill me no matter how much attention I give her.
GBPVR kicks ass & I refuse to give up on this. Please help!!
