Hey guys,

It's 4:00 AM here and I've spent way too many hours banging my head against the wall, so I'm ready for some help. I've read, installed, uninstalled & experimented until I'm blue in the face.

I just bought a 52" high definition TV to go with my GBPVR system. I had to buy a new video card that had DVI output & ever since, things have spiraled downward.

I can't seem to get a set of codecs & settings that work. I'm having audio/video synch issues with live TV when using any of the VMR modes. When I use Overlay mode, I can't play DVDs or AVI files in Widescreen - I get audio, but no video. Overlay mode works great in 4:3 mode - everything is great except that I waste a large amount of my nice new TV (Top, Bottom and a significant amount of the right side as well.)

I'm running a Celeron 3.06 Ghz. 512 MB of RAM. Radeon 7K with S-Vid, D-Sub & DVI. I'm going from the DVI port with a conversion cable to HDMI that plugs into the HD TV. XP Pro w/ SP2, GBPVR 9709. I'm using an old copy of InterVideo WinDVD (5.x I think) and I think it's called "XVid Free" - the codec file name off of free-codecs.com is "XviD-1.1.0-30122005.exe"

I've downloaded & installed the Omega Drivers for the card. I've tried the wacky qaurtz.dll fix using version 6.5.1.902 which seemed to be the consensus for the "good version" I went back to the DX 90c DLL because the 90b dll didn't resolve my issue (I know, it's an old post, but I was desperate.)

If I use the WinTV program from Hauppage (I have a PVR-150 PCI) live TV works like a champ.

If I double-click on my AVI or play my DVD via Windows media player it works like a champ.

The Radeon 7K is the new addition. I was previously using a 4:3 aspect ratio with S-Video out from the PC's onboard video card.

My sound card (Realtek high def audio) is built in and has digital coax out that I'm running into my Onkyo surround sound.

I think my biggest problem is this: I need a good, slim, efficient, solid, stable set of FREE codecs that will allow me to run liveTV, avi, mpg & DVD from GBPVR. It would be nice if someone could point me to these codecs and give me some super-detailed instructions on how to make them work.

I know that GBPVR is just a wrapper & doesn't directly handle displaying video, but I could really use some help with this.

Sorry for not organizing the information better. I've been married for 2 weeks now and my wife is getting upset that the TV's getting more attention than her tonight... and if I spend another 10c on my theater she's gonna kill me no matter how much attention I give her. Big Grin

GBPVR kicks ass & I refuse to give up on this. Please help!!

GPL Mpeg 1/2 decoder - mpeg2 decoder for livetv. (no DVXA, but
your cpu is plenty.

AC3filter (has DD 5.1 passthrough - have to configure it through control panel) (if it's going to your receiver all the time - then leave it as ac3encode and it'll upsample standard sound to 5.1 and output through spdif passthrough. - ac3filter.sourceforge.net (or google it)

XVID - you've got this - does divx, xvid. - I dont think there is anything related to aspect ratio in there.

My machine is much lower spec than yours, and it seems to work fine - but I get tearing issues on the video - your vid card is much better than mine though.

Try that and see how it goes. (and they are all free) - download the installers and the defaults seem to work. if you search for some posts by csy, he has a heap of info on configuring video cards.

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach your gbpvr.exe-native.log file.

Reproduce this also.

JonnyCam-
thanks for the tips. I downloaded & tried these Codecs. They work on my machine & I think the audio codec will be especially helpful for getting Dolby Digital II out to my surround sound system. However, these did not resolve my issues.

Sub-
I *just* updated my PVR150 drivers to resolve a seperate issue. Since the update of the drivers, I can no longer reproduce the VMR issue. Any reason the PVR150 drivers would affect audio/video sync?

I did come accross a similar issue. When using VMR9 Custom Renderer, I changed channels rapidly and then audio stopped working all-together - no sound from any channels. I confirmed that it reproduces each time and that it does NOT happen when using Overlay Manager. Returning to the GBPVR main menu & then launching LiveTV again resolves the issue. I doubt this will be an issue for me, but if you'd like to have a look, the log is attached.

As far as not being able to use widescreen & overlay manager... I found info about using F7 to change auto/fill/column/etc. Changing from "Auto" to "Fill" made the video appear properly. I set things back to default, reproduced & attached the log for you. To resolve this issue, I simply changed the "Auto" settings in the config file from "0,0,0,0" to "0,0,1,1" (same a "Fill")

I attached one last log file. Here, I set playback to use Overlay Manager & changed channels rapidly - no problems with audio.

I appreciate your response and I hope this helps. Thanks Sub!
