MVP Media Remote Issue...

I have a Media MVP (not Wireless) that works fine except every once in a while the fast forward freezes up and stops working. Maybe 20% of the time. The recordings play well, but you cannot use the remote for fast forward or rewind. The rest of the remote functions seem to work though.....

any thoughts??? Thanks...

Are the remote buttons sticking or is it in the software?

If it were me, I'd pop the remote apart and clean the contacts/rubber buttons to make sure that nothing had worked its way down in there and was causing the button to stick.

Other things to consider:
-age of batteries in remote (not likely since the rest of the remote works)
-placement of MVP for IR signal from the remote to reach it (also not likely as it does seem to be getting mote signals.

I find that if I press forward or rew, and dont wait for that to finish, then I've lost that function forever (during the playback). So I press FF, wait, it jumps, then I can press FF again. Kind of just got used to it.

I am having the issue with the FF button on the remote. Batteries are fine and the remote is not sticking...just a weird thing every so often...

has anyone ever used another remote rather than the mvp remote??

I'm having the same trouble with FF freezing, of course on the first file I ever tried to FF. 5 Hauppauge dongles didn't help either and I'm using 97.13

Here is some relevant log data

As it turns out the problem seems specific to this file, other files do FF fine Note this file does FF okay using the Hauppauge server

What was the file recorded with? If it was a PVR150, then it possibly had the PVR150 timestamp bug. GB-PVR uses the presentation time stamps for determining the duration and current position. The Hauppauge server probably does something different.

I don't know how it was created it is a music video I got off a blog or youtube, that is about all I use the video for. Here is what mplayer says about the pts in this file and it looks fairly consistant.

DEMUX_MPG: Read 2296 data bytes from packet 01E0
DEMUX: Append packet to d_video, len=2296 pts=0.000 pos=520587 [packs: A=0 V=67]
demux: 7 bad bytes skipped
DEMUX_MPG: Read 2296 data bytes from packet 01E0
DEMUX: Append packet to d_video, len=2296 pts=3.276 pos=522911 [packs: A=0 V=68]
demux: 7 bad bytes skipped
DEMUX_MPG: Read 2296 data bytes from packet 01E0
DEMUX: Append packet to d_video, len=2296 pts=0.000 pos=525235 [packs: A=0 V=69]
demux: 7 bad bytes skipped
DEMUX_MPG: Read 2296 data bytes from packet 01E0
DEMUX: Append packet to d_video, len=2296 pts=3.310 pos=527559 [packs: A=0 V=70]
demux: 7 bad bytes skipped
ASSIGNED TO STREAM 448 CODEC 0
DEMUX_MPG: Read 2279 data bytes from packet 01C0
DEMUX: Append packet to d_audio, len=2279 pts=3.109 pos=529883 [packs: A=1 V=70]
demux: 7 bad bytes skipped

Is there something the client could recognize, to avoid hanging?

Is it an MPEG1 file? These work like crap with the GB-PVR server when it comes to fast forwarding.

MPEG-PS file format detected.
VIDEO: MPEG1 352x240 (aspect 12) 29.970 fps 1150.0 kbps (143.8 kbyte/s)

What do you suggest is the best format file to use to test FF and RW with GBPVR?

I just upgraded to 0.97.13 and I am also experiencing issues with the MediaMVP remote FastForward. Anytime I try to FF with the MVP remote it crashes the service and I am forced to wait for the MVP service to reconnect.

I am using Maui-III video capture cards.

Any suggestions?
