Again, kudo for this great looking software.

I'm not sure if I am on the right track but am hopeful that someone else has cracked this nut.

I have a brand new PVR-250 and Media MVP. The PVR installed fine with the .inf and PCI drivers from Hauppauge's site. WinTV would not display anything until I loaded the Software MPEG decoder though.

Question 1
Can I assume that this card is always encode to MPEG2 and that the only way it can be interfaced is via an MPEG decoder, like the SW one I installed from Hauppauge site?

Now that WinTV is working great, pause live TV, etc. I installed GB-PVR. I have every combination of primary, VMR, overlay, etc, but still always get a black screenm thought I hear audio. I also played with the playback setting too, but no luck

Question 2
Does GB-PVR have the ability to use the SW decoder in live tv mode?

I went a head and installed the MVP and noticed that it booted fine, but seems to reboot often for no reason when playing music. Also the screen characters are off my display a little on the top and the right.

Question 3
Can the screen size be controled in GB-PVR so as to not extend off my tv screen?

1) Yes it always encodes to MPEG2, so you need to have a compatible MPEG2 decoder installed. For a common combination, on the playback tab in the config app, select Overlay and select the Intervideo Non CSS MPEG2 decoder (which was installed with the Hauppauge software).

2) Yes, the majority of people use a software decoder. I primarily use either the Intervideo with VMR9, or Cyberlink with Overlay. A smaller number of people have XCard/PVR350/MVP hardware decoders.

3) I assume you're asking about the MVP? Yes, take a look in config.xml for settings for positioning the MVP screen on your TV.

I updated my system with the Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder from PowerDVD. I also have the InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder installed (WinTV will not work without that one). WinTV continues to work as expected, but I still have a black screen with audio on Live TV or on Recordings. Any suggestions?

The config.xml setting for the MediaMVP worked great, though I am not sure I edited the right ones. I chaged the first set to effect what I see on the TV. What are the Offset settings for?

<!-- MVP Settings -->
<MVPServerAutostart>1</MVPServerAutostart>
<MVPWidth>620</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>420</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>40</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>36</MVPOffsetY>
<MAC-XXXXXXXXXXXX>
<MVPWidth>600</MVPWidth>
<MVPHeight>400</MVPHeight>
<MVPOffsetX>44</MVPOffsetX>
<MVPOffsetY>50</MVPOffsetY>
</MAC-000DFEE029B2>

Got a short update. I loaded the updated driver from SageTV. Which is really a PVR-250 driver update.

http://www.sage.tv/support.html

I can now see some channels. 2, but not 3-5, 6-8, not 9, etc. It seems to be a hit and miss, but they are consistent. WinTV still plays all channels fine.

I'm willing to try any suggestion at this point.

Yes, I forgot to mention there was a driver update in the last couple of weeks to address one specific tuner model. This driver and more discussion is also on http://www.shspvr.com/forum.

Try the tuning assistant to see what channels you can tune in. Try both cable and antenna. This should give you an indication what GB-PVR can see.

Great, thanks for the quick response. I got the updated driver from http://www.shspvr.com/forum....8bfa4c. It fixed the problems. I'll take the other question over to the MediaMVP list. Thanks!!
