I installed a Theater Pro 550 card and then configured it just like the Aver Media card (selected type as Theatre Pro 550 though it also showed Wonder Elite in the list of cards - strange). When I tried to set it up it said the drivers didn't appear to be installed. I don't see any exclamations in the Windows hardware tree. I also only see ATI Unified AV Stream Driver in the listings where AverMedia (my 150) card has entries for AVStream Audo Capture, MPEG Encoder, Video Capture (with TUner and Crossbar in that last one).

I used XP restore and then reinstalled the drivers (got the latest from the vendor's site). Am I out of luck? Will this card just not work? It is the Xtasy from Visiontek (MCE Edition).

P.S.
I don't understand why both tuners need to be configured for ZAP2IT. Do they both download the same scheduling data, redundantly? I also don't see a way in GBPVR to indentify the tuner you want to use for recordings or live TV. What determines which one gets used?

BTW, I ignored the drivers not installed box and then went into TV Guide and recorded two shows at once. It all seemed to work, but when I tried to view the recording on the new tuner card (the 550 Pro) it didn't show anything and the file it captured was 0 bytes in size. So clearly the drivers are a problem.

Both cards need to be configured as device #1. I suspect you're set it to some other number.

You have to configure the EPG for each tuner because even though your setup may use the channels on each tuner, some users have a different line up on each. If you use the same settings though, it'll only download the data once from zap2it.

GB-PVR decides which tuner to use. For recordings, it'll prefer to use one near the top of the capture source list in the config app.

I looked in the GBPVRRecordingService log and it showed this... so indeed, the lack of the other driver members (live the AverMedia) are the problem.

I can see from your log you have it set up as device #2. As I said above, it needs to be set as device #1 - assuming you only have one of these 550 pro devices.

I changed it to #1 and it worked! Thanks sub. I presumed it was related to the number of tuners in the case and it would prioritize them when selecting them.

I didn't see a difference in the recording quality with the Theater 550 versus the M150 (Avermedia), but I don't have a great TV either. I can tell you this, that 550 runs hot. The CPU jumped by 3 C and the case by 4 c. Whoa....

Here is an idea for helping the user.

If you see them select #2 and they don't have the first one installed, popup a box to explain what it is for and to set it back to one. Actually, as I think about, why do they even have the choice?

I was thinking it might be useful to designate tuners for specific roles or at least preferences. For instance, one card could be better at live TV (less delays, etc.) and another might be better at recording quality. If they could be designated as 'preferred' then it would guide GBPVR to use them in that role, if possible.

I understand. No need to borrow trouble... ;-)

I did notice, though, that when I removed the second card from the configuration (I am sending it back), that I had to reload my EPG even though I had one tuner left. I don't know if that was intentional, but I thought I'd pass it along...
