OK,

I just got the USBUIRt device. I installed it ok and it seems to work with GBPVR....well, what I mean is, I can see it trying to change channels, but my cable box flashes [Image: rock.gif] on the TV screen. I have a Motorolla box that is not part of options available in GBPVR. I selected "Jerod" as the box codes in my cable tv remote programming guide list several boxes all with the same codes - Jerod being one on the GBPVR list....

Any suggestions to making this work? I'm Oh-so-close!

Thanks!

You create your own device profile. The wizard will lead you through the process of learning your cable box remote signals (from the cable box remote).

Uh....I'm feelinig silly now. How do I create my own device profile?

I selected "My Device" as the option, nothing happened.

Thanks,

Click the "new" button next to the list of available device profiles.

Well.....

I hit "New" and this is what happens:

The message "Release Button" appears for about a second or two, then the screen flashes something. It appears to be cycling through the #'s on the remote. However, it happens so fast I cannot see the #'s not anticipate what they may be...thought I could, but the channels still are not chaning correctly.

How do I slow down the prompts?

Thanks for your patience and help,

Pat

hmm... a couple of people have had this. I'm not 100% sure what causes it. Do you have up to date USB-UIRT driver installed?

My driver is about 6 months old, so I'll try installing a new version tonight to see if I get this problem.

You know, I had this problem too. I had to re-configure the USB-UIRT device a couple times before it worked. My advice would be to not put the USB-UIRT right next to the cable box right off the bat, and also make sure that nobody's holding down any of the buttons on any of your remotes while you're running the configuration. I'm not sure that's what caused the problem, but whatever problem I had went away after awhile.

I've got a Motorola cable box (DCT2000) as well, and it's working.

I don't think there's any problem with the latest drivers - I downloaded them about a week ago and the learn operation worked fine.

I'd try again, but instead of holding down the button as requested try just pressing them normally. As other posters have said, ensure there are no extraneous IR signals about at the time.
