Hi all,

I use GB-PVR and it really works well. Thanx.

Relevant Info:
Directv HD-DVR via s-video
WinTV 150-PVR (with IR blaster)

At times I want to record things to the PC that I have recorded on my DVR. The way I've been doing this is as follows:
1) Manually schedule a recording in GB-PVR (start time, end time, channel)
2) Wait for the recording time to start and have GB-PVR blast out the channel change
3) Go into the DVR recorded shows, select the show and press play.

I was wondering if there was any "don't change the channel, just start recording now and don't stop until I tell you to" button/command?

Any tips would be appreciated.

You could probably setup an additional capture source, for the PVR150 using svideo input, set the channel changer to 'none', set the EPG to 'none' and manually add a channel called 'SVIDEO'. You'd still have to schedule a recording for it, try manually initiating a recording with Ctrl-K in live, but at least it wont be trying to change channels etc.

What sub suggested is basically what I do. I start the playback, press record on the remote, and then choose the "Record for a Specified Duration" option and type in the number of minutes to record. You end up with a manually recorded entry in your Recordings list. Works well.

wtg,

That sounds like pretty much what I would love however when I press CTRL+K I don't get the option to define the minutes. I only get 'til end of program'. How do you manage to get 'how many minutes?'. BTW, I don't use a remote, I use the keyboard (CTRL+K) but can easily fake it if a reg entry or command gets generated instead of CTRL+K.

or, in case pBS's remark is not verbose enough, use the left & right arrow keys to change the recording option, one of which is for a specified duration, and then with the time highlighted, type in the exact length.

Thanx everybody ... I'm gonna try that.

I'm sure glad I thought to ask the question.

Thanks again.
