Hi All,

I wanted to post about an experience I have had with Radio Shack so that it comes up whenever anyone is searching for the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR USB2 on this board.

When doing a froogle search for this product, the lowest cost reputable (by name) vendor in the USA is Radio Shack. Be warned that Radio Shack does *not* offer this product in the United States although the product's name and picture listed on their website currently (8/17/06) sure makes it look like they do:

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index....ab=summary

Radio Shack has included the wrong product name and wrong product picture in this listing. I was delighted by the price but not delighted when I opened the box to find the Hauppauge USB model 1020 tuner that does *not* include a hardware MPEG encoder, making it unusable with GBPVR. In fact if you look at the fine print, you will see the only thing accurate about their listing is the Hauppauge Model number, which I did not notice until I went back and rechecked the listing on their website after receiving the wrong product. If you look for the Hauppauge model 1020 tuner on any other vendor's website, you'll find the useless (for GBPVR anyway) tuner I received.

I have no personal vendetta against Radio Shack, and in fact they were prompt to offer me a full refund and a pre-paid mailer to ship it back for free. I just wish I would have found a report like the one I'm writing now while doing my research on this board. Still I am bummed... I was really looking forward to adding a second tuner to my system this afternoon.

Back to good ol' Newegg I guess.

Cheers,
-wg

That really sucks, at least they were good about taking it back and didn't make you pay for the return shipping.

On that note.... Newegg has it: Hauppauge WinTV-PVR USB2 it is a little more expensive than $92... Smile
