hi!
I´ve searched the forum, but did not find my wish - mybe i missed..

Here we go:
Recording 2 subsequent shows (each with padding) with only one tuner results in a problem.

If i´ve read right it will result in 2 files, the first show WITH the postpadding and the second with the first part cut off.

It would be nice to copy the end of the first show to the start of the second show.

B=Prepadding
S=SHOW
A=POSTPADDING
X=the part to copy to the second show

BBSSSSSSSSSSSSAA

thx for your attention

Yeah that would be nice Big Grin

I believe the way it's supposed to work normally is there should be NO post-padding first show, and NO pre-padding second show if it's working correctly.

I do like this idea. I wonder how difficult it would be to implement...

I did a simple test and calculated the amount of data based on recordingsettings and just copied the data ( without attention to keyframe or whatever). -> no problem. didn´t even see a hop at the end of the copied data in the movie. (If there would have been, i wouldn´t care anyway - better than not having the first part of the movie - and even better than having a stone onto the head:eek: )

This request only works on the back to back recording on the same channel, but it will not make sense if recording on different channels. On multiple capture cards, this already can be done.

Yes, you are absolutely right.

But it consumes an additional capturedevice for the time the 2 shows overlap, which isn´t necessary.

Sorry, I wont be doing this. If you need to keep the padding on two show, get an additional capture device. It'll also give you the benefit of being able to do it on different channels.

I do have 2 capture devices, and in quite a lot cases the second device is busy.

Yes, it sound like if we use a mechanism like Comclean to clip the last two minutes of the first show, store it...

and when second show is finished recording, clip the first two minutes of the second show, store it,

Then add the first two minutes of second show to the tail of the first
and then add the last two minutes of the first show to the second show...

Post-processing must have logic to wait for second show to complete for all the snipping and splicing.

And, Comskip and Comclean should probably wait for the two shows, before running
