ShowSearch Question

Jeff -- I really like this plugin and VA as well. Thanks for your efforts.

My question is about entering letters using the number pad on the remote (when using MVP) or the number pad on the PC. I don't understand what the program is doing.

Example (in "Word Starts with" mode):

<Sequence> <Number pressed> <Search text displayed>
1 2 a
2 2 AB
3 2 Bab
4 2 ABCa

Example (in "Contains" mode):

<Sequence> <Number pressed> <Search text displayed>
1 2 a
2 2 ac
3 2 Bab
4 2 ABCa

I don't understand what it is doing. I can't figure out how to search for a program that starts with a "B" (or any other letter that is the 2nd or 3rd assigned to the number key).

Is there a bug or do I just not understand?

Also, I was wondering if you were planning on building any of the zaptools data into ShowSearch (e.g. cast, genre, etc).

Just push the button (once) that includes the letter you want. For example, if searching for "tennis" press: 836647

ShowSearch then finds all the possible combinations of letters that correspond to those number keys and lists them. This is a VERY EASY way to search. I really like it.

I was being stupid. I was getting confused by the search letters being displayed at the top of the screen, (they didn't match what I was intending to type in) but I see now that it is still finding what I'm looking for.

The text on the top shows the first match found in the list. If you are looking for something with BA in the title and there are shows with AB in your EPG, the text on top will show AB even thought AB, BA, CA, etc will all be found.
