Should the MVP be able to load and run off a Client? I know this is odd, but I have not been able to load 98.8 on my main machine yet but I have loaded it on a client. I got the client working and thought I would play with the new dongle, etc on the MVP. I checked to autostart server on the client, turned off the autostarts on my server, and unplugged the MVP. It finds the ethernet but can't find a server to load the dongle. It may be a network issue, but I did not want to mess with my net unless it should work in theory from the client. I switched the autostart back on the server and the MVP found it right away.

I wondered this too. I made sure not to start an mvp server on my machine I set up as a client this morning. I was afraid I might introduce yet another conflict.

Are either of your mvp's the newer version that allow you to specify the preferred server "press OK in 3 secnds....". That would at least show if both PC's are visible to the mvp.

By the way, don't try to install the new version using VNC software. I ran into quite a problem trying to upgrade my server machine (PVR) to v98.8 from my client (office desktop) this morning. Ended up with a clean install when all I intended was an upgrade.....

I have 2 older MVPs so I cant see anything. Honestly I only played with it for a couple of minutes at lunch today. I am sure Sub or someone else will weigh in on this.

Thanks for the VNC tip. I have VNC loaded, but I don't use it to install software.

I just saw your signature about GreensboroBig Grin I am glad downtown is getting better. I fortunately don't have to worry about the singles scene. But JYL soccer season starts this weekend and my 4 year old is playing for the first time

I have upgraded every new version through vnc and have never had a problem. I think you would have had the same problem even if you installed locally

It might work, but I havent tested it. Its not really something I'd recommend.

Since your MVP boots through the server, why not copy the newer dongle.bin from the client over to the server, and have it load from there? The MVP boot process can load any dongle you tell it to load.

Thanks for the input. There really isn't a good reason to do it since it is all on the same network. I will update the server this weekend and all should be fine. I just wanted to know if I could do it, just for fun.
