Hey everyone!
I'm currently working on a MVP client, generally to watch TV on my Laptop. The RFB Protocol is now completly implemented, so the GUI will be shown up correctly.
Now I'm working on the implementation of Media Transfer Protocol. At this point i could need some help:
Does anyone can suggest me a good free mp3 library? Also i cood need some good free MPEG 2 library. This library has to decode the data to raw pixel data ( either RGB or YUV).

Maybe take a look at how Media Player Classic does it. I think they use a library for mpeg decoding.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/

I'd be willing to kick this around some. I've been looking for something like this.

Well, after a few hours of developing the client no fetches an mp3 stream and saves it to the hard disk.. and the good thing is: the file on the disk can be played with some player like winamp =) im very happy about this..

back to the topic: i looked to the MPC source.. its not really that i looked for. but thanks anyway. do anyone else know some good library?

I mainly meant to refer to MPC because I thought they used a library for decoding.

Maybe check out http://heroinewarrior.com/libmpeg3.php3 or http://libmpeg2.sourceforge.net/

I thought MPC used libmpeg2.

Wouldn't it be easier to just built a filter (or use an existing one) to grab the incoming stream and pipe it through a normal directshow graph and expect the user to have a decoder?

I'd love to take a look at it Smile

I wouldn't mind testing it in it's current state.

I can't help much with directshow. I don't know a whole lot about creating graphs via code. I've done it with graphedit, and I've used some VB suff in the past to play with it, but that's about it.

There should be quite a bit of info and sample code around via Google though. That's typically how I hack stuff together Smile

Have you seen what the guy is doing in this link:

Sounds like an easy way to do what you are trying to do. I have not been able to try it yet, but I hope to this weekend.

Later,

Also happy to help out with testing.
I'm currently using 2 MVP's but with the GBPVR box being headless,
I cannot watch anything directly on it!

Same here -- my media server doesn't even have a video card in it -- just the MVP and remote desktop. Smile
