I am a newbie, and thought I had everything working last evening but when I went to watch the tv shows I recorded all I got was sound...no picture.

Equipment:

WinTV PVR 150 MCE edition (running on windows XP PRO)
Celeron 2000
250 gig hard drive
512 megs of ram
Nividia Sound Card (128megs)
2 DVD burners

Wintv 2000 is working and I can watch tv on the computer...however when I use gbpvr and select live tv....there is sound but no picture...I assume I have not configured something correctly?

BTW...I am in Atlantic Canada...and noticed that when I downloaded the Programing guide from Zap2it the times were off and some of the channels were wrong???

Any help would be appreciated...and remember....baby steps...I am new to this stuff.Rolleyes

What video decoder do you have selected on the playback take of the config app?

Either zap2it is supplying garbage for you channel lineup and/or you timezone is set incorrectly on your PC.

I had similar problems. WinTV2K uses its own MPEG decoder (special Hauppauge OEM non-CSS Intervideo decoder IIRC) while GBPVR defaults to whatever the system has installed.

If I were you, first I'd try to configure the GBPVR video decoder setting to something else just to see if anything changes.

I ended up removing ALL programs that installed audio/video decoders, and reinstalling only the ones I specifically needed. I found that XP Codec Pack added a bunch of stuff that interfered with MPEG-2 file playback.

If you don't mind rolling your sleeves up and getting your hands dirty, you can use the GSpot utility to analyze an MPEG-2 file on your system and tell you what it thinks it needs to play.

"none-use software decoder is selected"

What should it be set at?

You are looking in the wrong place. What you wrote should be just that. But below that option you have "video decoder"... that is what sub was asking about.

What are your other three options? Smile By the way, it's easier for us (or at least for sub Wink ) to answer your questions if you zip up and attach your logs here. Get all ending with .log in the c:\program files\devnz\gbpvr directory (unless you installed somewhere else)

zipping is built into windows xp
create new->zip file
edit the zip file's name
drag the logs to that file (like dragging something to recycle)

oh and another possible problem is if you are using overlay and some custom aspect ratio is outside the screen (ala remove letterbox) the screen will be black. but if you have not messed with your config file this shouldnt happen
