skip fwd and back while playing back a recording

Hi, I'm playing back a previous recording and I'm not able to make it skip forward or backwards with my remote.. now I swear I just did this earlier today... is this something anyone else has experienced?

Oh, I'm recording another show at the same time too.. if that has anything to do with it.

You should always be able to skip fwd/back with a pre-recorded video. How are you playing it back software decoding, MVP, PVR350 etc?

I use a pvr-350, but I have a monitor hooked to my computer. so.. i think it's the software decoding.
