Internet phone/IM plugin

I'd like to see a VOIP addon where a call can be answered via bluetooth headset, and pauses the TV - similar to how the mp3 phones work when an incoming call comes in.

Something similar w/ IM proggies would be nice, but the limit of having to have a kb would be problematic.

That is not true! There's really a need for a plugin like this, but it's not really good if a tool is not fully functional. Include this day i wait for the completed "MyPrograms" Plugin really silent... and nothing comes... :p

You know yourself, that your plugins are really requested and needed.

yeah i havent had time to finish my programs, the nero sdk in my vids is pissing me off.

I used to work for a tech startup called SpeechFront (which was bought by Nuance). We were developing some stuff around voice / speech recognition / Instant Messaging. Some of the demos we built allowed you to login to your IM account through the phone and then using speech recognition, you could have some basic conversations with people.

"Say 'hello' to <user>" would send the text "Hello" to <user>, for example.

Most IM clients now come with VoIP now, however, so I dont think it would even need the speech recognition part anymore - I think the following would work:

1. Incoming text message from <user>.
2 a) auto-reply with text explaining that you are only available through VoIP.
b) initiate a VoIP call with <user>.

I've been thinking about implementing something like this with Skype. They have an open API and encourage this type of integration. Adding features like SkypeIn and Skype Voice Mail would be pretty powerful.

Would definately agree that the VOIP and bluetooth feature would be cool.

As for the IM plugin - without meaning to sound too critical I think the lack of interest may have been because the plugin appeared to be in Alpha stage Revan - many of your more popular plugins seem to take a while to leave Beta and RC stage so maybe people were sceptical as to the amount of time you would be able to dedicate to the project?

I've just read that back and it sounds really harsh, would just like to point that that as ever all effort and time put into plugin development is much appreciated.

if theres no interest at the alpha stage, i wont continue with the project. there didnt seem to be much point.
