I'm playing with setting up another computer as a GBpvr client. I got everything working except the live TV. I keep getting the "unable to connect to the recording service" error on the screen and this in the client side log.

I assume i've setup something wrong somewhere. Can someone show me where i've gone wrong?

Do you have a firewall running on the server? Are you in streaming mode or file share mode? Do you have all of the paths and shares setup correctly on the Capture Sources tab of the client?

Brian

I've disabled the firewall, as far as i know i have the shares setup correctly, playing a recorded video or music or viewing pictures works just fine. As to the streaming or file share mode, I've tried both. They both work with everything but live tv, same error no matter which way i set it.

I'm not sure what else to try. I have a feeling it's something really dumb, probably why i haven't figured it out yet Smile

With regards to file sharing mode, the Live TV uses a different share than recordings or anything else, make sure that the shares are correct and accessible by the client machine through normal browsing (Windows Explorer). In addition to the log snippet above, do the typcial "reproduce the problem and post all of your logs" and we can take a look.

zip and attach the logs for both the client and server and I'll take a look.

I've found this happens to me sometimes too. I'm not sure why but most of the time restarting the recording service and then restarting the client seems to allow it to work. This assumes that you did have it working correctly at some point.
GBPVR Server:

Log's as requested. I hope they tell you more than they tell me. Smile Thanks for taking a look.

This is my initial attempt so, no I've not had it work yet. I've got part setup right, but there must be a piece missing somewhere. As many times as I've redone the configs for both machines i would have thought I'd have restarted many times but it's worth a try anyway, thanks!

I suspect you've enter the server name wrong. You've entered "lou's" when I think name is really "lous".
