ok so here is what is going on, I an trying to play some of my anime that is in matroskia and ogm format, they look the best and have soft subtitles. now I know that I got it working fine once, but i seem to be having a problem with direct vobsub loading now.

I can play the files in windows media player and the subtitles load no problem, but when i play them in gbpvr i get no subtitles, and I have set directvobsub to force load but it still wont load.

I am using the overlay renderer (because I get tearing with VMR9 damned old nvidia card) although I think I was using VMR9 when I got it to work before.

let me know if logs are needed, but I took a wuick look and it didnt look like hte codecs that were being loaded were being logged, I will try changing the level of logging.

EDIT: changed the level of logging to tebug, yeah it shows the video graph and does not contain directvobsub? then how does it work in windows media player? is the graph different depending on the renderer

EDIT2: just tried using VMR9, no luck still no directvobsub in the graph for the file

I dont know that much about directvobsub, but I would have expected it would only work with VMR. (since GB-PVR is already using the one only video stream and OSD available with Overlay renderer)

To be honest, I dont really know the answer to your question. I dont use either directvobsub or matroskia/ogm.

well thanks for trying to help, its really wierd bacause I can put the files into graphedit and they show that they shold be using directvobsub.

it is almost as if gbpvr is getting the wrong graph information, but thats a guess at this point

As far as I'm concerned its not a GB-PVR problem. GB-PVR has no knowledge of directvobsub. Its not like GB-PVR failed when it tries to explicitly use directvobsub. GB-PVR is successfully managing to play the video file, which is all it set out to do.

BTW, if you tried using the Cyberlink decoder with VMR9, you just have ended up testing Overlay again. By default the Cyberlink decoder is not compatible with VMR.

I know I wasnt accusing gbpvr of that, I was saying that if I were to try to put my finger on the source of the problem it would be when gbpvr gets the graph information whether its gbpvr or the graph that is flawed I have no clue because I dont have the knowledge about video decoding and such to really be able to debug this myself.

thanks for your help sub. I will keep messing around with this and see if I can get something figured out (lots of googling of video decoding ensues).

if anyone else has any experience with a problem like this please let me know so we can maybe put our heads together and figure something out

ok, so I finally got around to taking a look at why GBPVR is not playing my anime files correctly... and I got nowhere.

looking at the graph GBPVR uses in graphedit, it does not use the subtitle pin of the source file (halaii splitter). now at some point I had it working properly, I think it was when I had a fresh install, and had left all of the defaults. then I started playing around to try and get the picture to not have tearing. maybe switching to overlay messed it up forever

now I know you dont consider it a bug sub, BUT I am very interested in how GBPVR actually creates its graph, also why is it looking for the Cyberlink MPEG mux?

meh, I wish my anime didnt have subtitles that need vobsub to display, since ffdshow can handle most subtitles
