Long time lurker, First time poster.

Sub I have enjoyed GBPVR for many months now and was thrilled when version 98.8 implemented Server/Client support.

Unfortunately I have had no success in getting it functional. whenever I try to assign the client I get the "Cannot start service GB-PVR Recording Service on computer" error message.

I am using a standard 98.8 installation with no plug-ins or addons.

I was hoping that I could find a remedy in the Wiki or the forums but maybe I don't understand the problem enough to search properly for the answer.

In any event, the client logs are attached as well as the error message that I get whenever I try to set up GBPVR Client.

Thank you in advance for your assistance. This is a great community with incredible support and assistance.

Thanks again, Kevin

It looks like you dont have the correct share specified for the client's database share setting. Its trying to open the config.xml file in that directory, but unable to find it in this directory you have specified.

Sub thanks for your quick response.

I corrected the directory entry and I still get the error message.

Obviously I cannot figure out the problem and I don't want to waste anymore of your time.

I will have to wait until there is a detailed Wiki instruction or something.

Thank you again.

I really appreciate your efforts.

Do you still get the same error message above in your gbpvr.exe.log?

Sub, Thanks again for your continued support.

The directory error is gone. I have attached the latest GBPVR.exe.log.

As you can see towards the bottom there are many error stating;
"Object reference not set to an instance of an object"

I don't think this is a GBPVR problem necessarily. I say that because no matter what changes I make to the GBPVR Config when I click on "OK" to save the changes and launch the Recording service I get the "Unhandled Exception" error message.

I have reinstalled net 2.0 runtime and GBPVR today. I am begining to think maybe it is a hardware conflict or something.

Again your assistance is always appreciated. Thanks Kevin

Success Big Grin

At least partially... While reading previous post someone recommended using the XP Event Viewer. From there I figured out that a program called SafeNet Sentinel was loaded and running. I have no idea where it came from. I am the only one who uses this computer and thought I knew all the software present Sad

In any event I no longer get the "Unhandled Exception" when starting the recording service.

Thank you Sub and all of the comunity paticipants for your valuable insights.

Now I can stop beating my forehead on the desk :o
