Hi,

I am trying to use HIP to remote control my PC running GBPVR. I am using the Grey Hauppauge remote (that comes with WinTV 150) and USBUIRT as my IR receiver and blaster. I first made USBUIRT learn the keys 1-10 of my cable STB through GBPVR's config and now it blasts channel changes on the STB and acts as the channel changer successfully.

Now I am trying to remote control GBPVR using the above remote and each time I try to teach HIP a key on my remote, HIP asks me to confirm the keypress and when I press the key again, HIP throws a **Values do not match** error message and refuses to learn the key. HIP refuses to learn ALL the keys on my Hauppague remote in the same manner.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
stefan

Any special reason why you want HIP for that task? I mean, why not use gbpvr's built-in ability to learn codes from the usb-uirt to control gbpvr, as well as for sending signals to the STB?
I'm not always right
GB-PVR 1.2.9
Accent HT-400 Case, AMD Athlon 64 3800+ 1024MB, 1TB+300GB+180GB, WinXP Pro-SP2, NVidia 7600GT
Nova-T USB2, PVR-350 recording from Dilog 355 DVB-T box, USB-UIRT (receiving & transmitting)

Absolutely none.

My only intent was to control gbpvr from a remote control, instead of having to use a mouse and keyboard, which is too cumbersome.

I thought we could only program gbpvr to use the usbuirt to send signals to the STB. I was not aware that it's also possible to control gbpvr using the remote without using any other software. If so this is wonderful.

Could you please point me to some documentation which explains how I can use gbpvr to learn codes from my usb-uirt so that I can use my remote control to control gbpvr?

There probably some info on the wiki, but its pretty easy. Set the 'remote type' to 'USB-UIRT' in the config app, then click the Settings button and follow the instructions.

This is great. It works like a charm.

Now I was just wondering if this is also somehow possible:

Can the Usb-uirt also control an external device such as a audio receiver or a tv? Reason I ask is that I have an external amplifier/receiver to control the volume. So when I increase the volume using my remote (which I now use to control gbpvr), nothing happens since the volume is not a control on gbpvr. So is there a way for the usb-uirt to blast the signals on my audio receiver when I press the volume buttons?
Similarly, is there a way for the usbuirt to switch on/off the TV and the receiver when I press the power button on my gbpvr remote?

No, not when using the name GB-PVR USB-UIRT support. It'll only send 0-9 or 'enter' when it needs to change channels on the set top box. It doesnt know how to control any other device. You'd need to use either HIP or Girder for doing that type of specialist stuff.
