Just curious to how the Record Seaon option works. Does it record all episodes with that name on that channel for one year? I am assuming it records reruns that my play in the middle of the season as well.

Thanks,
Taz

When the EPG is updated, if any show on that channel matches the name of the season recording, it'll be scheduled for recording. There is no one year limit. If you want it to no longer record a particular show, then you have to manually cancel it.

I assume it will keep recording episodes forever as long as the criteria are met.

It will record reruns, unless you can restict this (e.g. using 'record in this weekly timeslot'...), I believe zap2it users (US) have unique show ids in their EPG feeds, therefore you can select the 'Do not record duplicates' option in config

So this might clear something up for me then. I don't like the
"this weekly timeslot" option. The networks will sometimes move program times due to presidential speaches, Oprah having a shindig, whatever. I have had a few recordings missed due to this. I use zap2it so I could select "record all on this channel" and then in the config set "do not record duplicates" and I will get all NEW epsodes no matter what time they actually air?

The default timeslot allows the start time to move up to 90 minute either way, and still be considered 'in the timeslot'. If you're finding sometimes shows are moved by more than this 90 minutes, then you can adjust the timeslot size by changing the <AllowableTimeslotVariance> in config.xml

Yes, thats the theory. You may get duplicates with some shows, since zap2it dont always supply this info.

If you use zap2it, TVGuideSupercharger allows you to schedule only the "new" shows.

Before I take the "Don't Record Duplicates" plunge ... is it possible to miss shows having this set, or just the possibility of some recorded duplicates? Are the show unique identifiers kept in the database indefinitly or will they get purged at some point which could allow duplicates months or years down the road?

TVGuideSupercharger looks good but honestly that much info on the screen will tank the WAF.

The latter. I dont think there is any risk of missing shows because of this.

Its not a separate list, but rather a field associated with existing recordings. Its only considered a duplicate if you already have a recording (pending or ready) with the specific unique ID.
