because of the freeze problem with the PVR 350 if you use the TV-out, I try to use the TV out of the onboard card.
It is a VIA UniChome (VIA EPIA ME6000) it works, setting GBPVR to use software decoder, but it is very slow.

there should be a mpegII decoder in the ME6000, does it not work this way? do I something wrong?

Sorry, but the ME6000 is just too far below the minimum spec. It is roughly the equivalent of a 300mhz celeron. The Microsoft libraries (GDI+) I use for drawing all my screens does not work well with very slow machines, so you'll find the menus very sluggish on this machine.

On the video front - The Via EPIA boards claim to contain an MPEG2 decoder, but they dont really. They do contain some instructions that can "assist" the MPEG decoding process, but only certain software MPEG decoders are aware of they instructions and will use them. The PowerDVD Cyberlink decoder is one that can use it. It will drop the CPU usage a few percent, but I suspect it will still struggle.

mmm that's bad news. I really have bought this board for this purpose....
the strange thing is that the menu's ARE much faster and responsive, but it is only the moving video quality that is "stuttering". (is that english?)

If you're happy with the speed of the menus, they you might as well try the PowerDVD5 Cyberlink MPEG decoder, as these seem to give the best performance on the EPIA boards.

I personally had an ME6000 but found it annoyingly too slow for everything.

thanks for the info, i tried it and it is better indeed, but... not enough...

it seems that my only option now is to wait for the driver update from haupauge? are they aware of the lockup problem?
tv out quality on my 350 is fine, even with my slow cpu.
recording and watching at once is only a few % cpu load.
