I don't think many of us have had luck with the radio based upon what I've read but if you have the 350, just use the radio program that comes with it.

I have a PVR350. I dont use it often the feature often, but the radio functionality works for me.

Ususally people that have problems havn't installed the lame encoder directshow filter. The download URL for this file is listed in the change.log file (search for "lame&quotWink. I'm not at home at the moment, otherwise I'd tell you the URL.

Download the file above and double click reg.bat. That's all there is too it.

Too easy.

Brilliant that's fixed the radio. any chance this will auto install in the next update?

I still have a problem, i would like the sound to go through my tv card to my tv instead of / as well as my sound card? anyone?

Thanks

That's pretty hard. However, what can be done is to loop the audio output of the tv-out of the pvr350 to the line in of your soundcard. Then output the sound output of the soundcard to your tv. THis is even what is (or: used to be) advised by hauppauge.
Personally I don't use it that way. I have several inputs on my tv. And one is connected to the tv-out of my video card, another one to the tv-out of my pvr350. This works fine for me.

Go the loop back approach. Switching inputs would drive me nuts - sorry MaBo.

Well, I did get FM Radio working to play live out of the TV.

I've been actually looking for the same as Lexus. thing because...
a) I do not want to use the loopback approach as I like my soundcard connected to my CRT instead of the TV (so I can have sound both when working on the PC as well as being in the Living Room without re-wiring,
b) I think that as I can have live TV playback on the TV I should be able to listen to the radio that way (even though the screen is currently black but we'll figure out something for this, soon) and
c) this also enables Live-Preview of the TV without the need for a buffer File and therefore no harddisc activity.

So here it is: My GraphEdit Filtergraph for Live-Playback.
The Tee/Sink-To-Sink Converter actually is the only filter I could make this baby get to work with. If you connect the Capture Filter straight with the Decoder Filter GraphEdit freezes after you hit the "Start" button. This way I can listen to the radio on the TV.

Sub, I wish you could use this scheme to make FM-Radio be played back (by configuration as I can select for the Playback Settings) either "none-Software decoder" or the "Hauppauge PVR350. Software could be e.g. the Lame-Enc solution.

Next steps I am looking into is how to get my MP3 collection be playing over the TV by muxing the mp3 with an appropriate image/video ... should be not too difficult as I assume MPEG allows to include MP3 audio tracks (or is it just MP2?)....
Problem to me is that I can only deal with GraphEdit and I am not a big developer (neither C++ nor C#)... so I'd be glad if someone could take my lay approach one step further...

Cheers - Christoph

The primary reason I dont use this sort of approach is because I need to code solutions which are compatible across the wide variety of clients types I support (XCard/MVP/PVR350/PC). The solution you describe is very PVR350 specific. Using the loopback approach also allows you to listen to pretty much any type of audio, and works for FM Radio, net radio, WMV, and pretty anything else.

Also, the decoder and capture devices are in different processes and cannot be connected. The capture and tuner components are in the GB-PVR Recording Service, and the decoder is in the client (GBPVR.EXE).

If GB-PVR was solely for the PVR350, I'd probably use this sort of approach.

There are quite a few people interested in the radio-functionality, it seems - like me :-). Maybe this is the place to ask for a radio-recording functionality again [Image: biggrin.gif]
