I've been playing around with AllowableTimeslotVariance and don't quite understand what it actually means. I believe it simply defines a pre & post recording event window where any like-named show will also be recorded.

I see a whole bunch of other configuration items in config.xml that seem to have no direct counterpart in the config.exe tabs.

Is there a list somewhere describing all the config.xml items? I couldn't find anything in the forae or wiki.

Thanks!

if AllowableTimeslotVariance = 90, then shows that start +/- 90 minutes of the start time of the original show will be considered 'in the timeslot", which is ultimately used to decide if a show should be recorded as part of timeslot season recording.

Sorry, no there isnt a list. The only settings I intend the user to change are available in the config app.

That's fair; we users are demanding and pesky and start too many support threads as it is. Wink

I'm running into the "recording 3 shows where only one is new" issue due to the default AllowableTimeslotVariance setting. The broadcaster does not strictly adhere to the scheduled program time, which usually results in a recording with the first minute or so missing.

I need my install to stick to the "scheduled recording plus pre- and post-show buffer" and stop trying to record all extra episodes. For a 30 minute show, I believe cutting AllowableTimeslotVariance to 15 minutes should accomplish what I need while leaving enough leeway for minor schedule changes. Sound reasonable?

Thanks for your explanation, Sub.

It really depends on what typically happens with show times in your country. Here in New Zealand, shows are typically pushed out by either an hour or a half hour, so AllowableTimeslotVariance=15 wouldnt really gain me anything. That said, we also dont typically get multiple shows with the same name broadcast within a timeslot in NZ, so the current timeslot mechanism works well here.

If you think 15 would work well there, then change it and give it a go.
