When I try to go to Live TV or move from the episode guide to Watch a program, GBPVR is telling me that it can't communicate to the capture device and that the drivers might not be activated. However, if I go to the software that came with the Walker Ultra I can view TV fine.

I'm using drivers version 1.6 for the Walker.

Sub, I heard that you were possibly getting a LifeView Walker to develop against? If you need a beta tester for that device, let me know, I'd be willing to test a pre-release for you.

Yes, supposedly a LifeView have sent a Walker for my testing so we should have better support soon.

In the mean time, you could reproduce the problem then email a copy of the logs to me at support@devnz.com. These may contain some clues.

Sub, sent you a copy of the log file from my run the other night with the Walker Ultra. Looks like it definitely threw an exception when trying to initiliaze communciation with the Walker. I know the device is working as I can view and record with the software that comes with the device.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Can you send the rest of the logs. You only send the GBPVR.exe.log file, but there are several others I need to help the diagnosis.

Ya know, I thought about that last night after I had sent the other ones. Didn't know if you needed all the natives and the config logs as well. I'll zip them up and send them to you tonight.

Sub with your help, I've got most of the issues straightened out. I think mainly with LiveTV it has to do with the InterVideo Video codecs I have installed, I don't have any of the NonCSS codecs. When I use the WinDVD codec, I no longer get the ActiveMovie window, and I get audio, but 1 second later GBPVR crashes. I can send logs if you need them. Is it possible to use another video codec besides the InterVideo codec for playback?

A couple of recording items:

1. MPEG2 recordings works great. Have no problems playing these back at all.

2. MPEG-4 video seems to be working just fine, but audio doesn't seem to be working right. I took at look at the AVI that is produced and the Audio stream summary says it is PCM at 32hz, when the Audio settings in the configuration are setup for 48hz. Is it also, possible to give an option to encode the audio as either an MP3 or MP1 Layer 2 stream?

3. AVI's for Mpeg-4 (either Divx or MS-MPEG4) seem to be really large. More so than I would expect. Part of this may be due to the Audio Stream not being compressed but stored as a PCM stream.

Non -- Walker Related:

4. Episode Search - Is there anyway to make this more Remote friendly? That is how I typically access the Search. Would be great if I could have an on screen keyboard, and just punch in what I wanted to look for, and then have it bring me up a list to choose from, instead of selecting the letter that I want, then scrolling through the entire list, and finally selecting it. GBPVR is going to be integrated into my Home Theater setup, and this would make it much easier as I don't plan on having a keyboard available to be used. Or is this already handled in one of the pluggins?

You can use any of the following with GB-PVR

InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge
InterVideo Video Decoder
CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (ATI)
NVIDIA Video Decoder
CyberLink Video/SP Decoder***
Elecard MPEG2 Video Decoder
Moonlight-Elecard MPEG2 Video Decoder
MainConcept MPEG Video Decoder
MainConcept (Hauppauge) MPEG Video Decoder
Sonic Cinemaster® DS Video Decoder

***The Cyberlink decoder isn't compatible with VMR

Other can be added to the config.xml if required, but I cant be 100% sure they'll work if I havn't tested them.

Yes, the GO7007SB files do seem to be pretty large but I'm yet to find a good utility that will analyize the file and tell me the bitrate, so I'm not 100% sure my specified bitrate has been used.

Dscaler now has a MPEG2 video codec.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/deinterlace/

Still in Alpha, but from what I've heard supposed to work pretty well.
