Hi Sub,

I am having the strangest problem! If I try to play a mkv file in the video library it will play fine but when I exit out (e.g. by pushing the back button on my mce remote) the screen goes (and stays) blank. The really weird thing is that if I push the remote's scroll buttons I can hear bleepbloop making sounds and once even have got it to perform actions (just with no picture at all). Any ideas?

I have attached the logs and am running the following config:
GBPVR .09.08.08
FDDSHOW codecs
standard blue skin

Thanks.

I dont use this type of file myself, but I can only guess its related to the decoder you're using. Is there a decoder other than ffdshow you can try?

It's interesting because this worked fine with the previous version (97 I think). Hmm, I will have to look at codecs and see what is installed. I wouldn't have figured that the codecs could keep the program's gui from running?? is there a windows utilities to check/set the codecs for encoding type?

If its only affecting this one file type, then its almost certainly the decoder (or MKV splitter). Do AVI files and MPEG files work fine?

mpeg files are fine but ogm files have the same problem. I will have to find an avi to give it a shot.

Thanks for the reply!

You'll probably find that ogm file is also using ffdshow.

You were absolutely right. I got rid of ffdshow and used a different splitter and it works great now.

thanks,
dave
