I am looking to use Media MVP to view audio/Video files from my PC across the LAN to my tv fairly straight forward it seems. What I also want to do is watch real time web tv (running on my PC) on my tv across the LAN is that possible with GB-PVR and Media MVP. I know I can do it if I connect my PC directly to the TV by S-video and audio cables can I do it across the network.Smile

@Bigbyte: If I understood you right, all you need to do is install gbpvr as a client on your lan-system.
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,

Thanks HtV.

I am very new to this technology and need to check if I have understood you correctly, are you saying that if I install GB-PVR on my PC which is a client on the workgroup, I can stream live video playing on that PC across the LAN and view it in real time on my TV.

I'm not sure that stream is quite the correct term, but I know that I can open a file saved on my PC and view it on my TV useing Media MVP. What I want to be able to do is watch live video being recieved on my PC (not saved) across the LAN and view it simultaneously on my TV.Smile

Yes you can. Install GBPVR on your client-system, in config-capturesources you select that you want it to be a client-system. You may have to fiddle a bit with the options, make sure you have the right directories selected etc. That's all. Don't forget to install a mpeg2-decoder on your client if you didn't already.
Good luck.

Just to be clear:

MediaMVP does not view Live TV simultaneously, it has a several second lag.
There is a temporary buffer file that gets deleted automatically.

The same thing can be done with streaming WebTV on an MVP, using the Ubustream plugin and VLC. VLC captures the stream to a temporary file, and the MVP reads the file soon after, maybe 10 seconds delay. (for some reason mine playes better if I give the stream a 10 second buffer)

HTV: Im not sure where the client mode of GBPVR comes in though. That's for when you have two computers, one server computer doing the recording and one client one next to the TV. The Media MVP IS the client.

I think I got mixed up some where between the clients and mvp's.:o Smile
I reread the thread but it still is confusing to me, but I think you are right.

Thanks for the clarification, as I said earlier in the thread I am fairly new to this technology and appreciate the help.

I have now received my Media MVP and got a suprise when I opened the box and found it had a scart connector when I was expecting S-Video (which I now understand is supplied in the US whereas UK gets the scart).

I know I can get Scart to S-Video leads but am interested in your opinions as to whether (if I have a choice) I would end up with better quality results going scart to scart or scart to S-Video or is there no real difference.Smile

Afaik the s-video is in the scart. You might have to look in to your tv-scart settings.

If your TV has a scart input then just use scart to scart. A 'full' scart lead has all the connections you require - composite; S-video and RGB. The MVP also outputs RGB which gives the best picture if your TV supports it. You may find the TV switches automatically or you may have to select it. Some TVs toggle between composite and S-video when you repeatedly press the AV/TV button on the remote. Most switch automatically to RGB if the signal is present. If you have more than one scart socket on your TV then check which ones do what. Not all will necessarily have all inputs and outputs.
