What are the common causes of failed recordings?

I had my first ever failed recording yesterday. I've successfully recorded hundreds of shows and never had a failure. I set a show to be recorded from 12:30PM to 1:00PM with no other shows scheduled for that time. I have two tuners (PVR150 and M150) and my system was in standby, as always, prior to the recording start time. The show recording failed. I had two other shows scheduled for later in the day (8:00 to 9:00 and 9:00 to 10:00) and GBPVR woke my machine recording both perfectly.

Any ideas on what might have happened to the 12:30 show?

I'm running the latest version of GBPVR.

Probably not a useful reply, but I had my first failed recording yesterday as well while running the .13 release.

I too have had failed recordings since the .13 release. Nothing obvious in the logs, it simply doesn't record them. They still show up in the EPG as 'pending' until I restart the recording service, then go to 'failed', obviously because the time to start recording them has passed. This has happened about 5 times since I installed the new release.

I've had several recordings recently that showed as 'failed' in the recordings screen, but the recording was actually made correctly, so I was able to move the mpg file to the video folder and watch it. If this occurs again I'll capture the logs.

I'm thinking it may have had something to do either with my switch from <preferalternatingcapturesource> false to true, or with a bad EPG update.
What, me worry?

Where are your "failed" recordings being placed? I didn't see mine where it should have been. It was a real failure.

this may be unrelated but on sunday my machine decided that it didnt want to wake for GBPVR, I starrted it up to check if the channel was on time (football game earlier) and it was, so I put it to standby. then I come out half way through the show its supposed to record, and its off, I turn it on and it starts recording. annoied I see if it was a fluke, and schedule a show to record in a half hour, wait a bit, then put the machine to standby... didnt wake up. so I turn it on, let it finish recording then it records the show after it(previously scheduled) and I create a windows scheduled task to wake the machine up at some time, that worked... but it was late and I didnt feel like messing with it. Yesterday I had a show to record at 9, and that was recording when I went to check on it... maybe it doesnt like sundays? but this is on .98.8

The most likely reason of a failed recording is that the machine was not awake at the time of the recording for some reason.

Zip and attach the logs, and a description of when the recording was supposed to occur and I'll take a look.

Logs are attached.

The failed recording was for a show that ran from 12:30PM to 1:00PM (30 minutes) on Monday the 23rd. Two other shows were recorded without a problem later that day.

Thanks, Sub.

The recordings were placed in the correct folder location in the recordings directory.

In my case, the machine was definately awake as I was using it at the time, it just ignored the recording, then 'remembered' that it should have recorded it when I re-started the recording service.

I'll try to catch some logs and post them next time it happens, but just looking through them myself, I see nothing different from a set of logs created when something does record OK, except that there are no entries in the log to do with the recording.
