I've been having a problem for a while and i've tried a number of things before posting. I'm getting some stuttering (or skipping) in some of my recordings. It seems to be kind of random...but i've noticed it a little more in the 2nd recording when i have back to back recordings (only have 1 tuner), which leads me to wonder if gbpvr is simply tying up my cpu with stuff to finish the first recording while it's into the 2nd recording.....comskip maybe? I know it's not simply a playback issue because i have copied the recording off my gbpvr box and played them on a different computer and it's in the recording....not in playback on gbpvr. Any idea's guys?

p.s. The suttering is hard to explain...it's almost like someone went in and removed like 1 second of video every couple of seconds...and usually last for a stretch of video maybe lasting 30 seconds.....but it's kind of random.

WHat device are you using for recording?

Its certainly possible that high CPU usage and/or disk I/O from comskip could cause this. Try without comskip for a while to see if you get the same problem.

Have you defragged recently?

Yes...it's definately in the recording....i've played it back on a totally different pc,as well as an mvp, and theskipping is in the same spot

lol....we are on at the same time. I can try turning comskip off (don't know why i didn't think of that). I'm using a hauppage 150, been using it for over a year....no other hardware changes recently. I am running 2 hard drives in a winxp's software raid configuration, but i've also had that the same for a while. I haven't defragged in a long time...but i just did a clean install of gbpvr a while back for another reason, but this problem has remaining through both installs (actually seems to be getting more frequent....and worse, some shows actaully freeze up and then continue, like the player is choking on the video becuase it's messed up). I do have an athlon xp 1600.....but i've been using it for over a year, i was thinking about trying to upgrade the cpu and/or ram (which is 2x256 and 1x128 chips).

Yeah, try with comskip off for a bit. Also try a defrag. A heavily fragmented drive can cause a lot of additional I/O.

What capture device are you using?

Umm...i'm assuming you mean hardware card. PVR-150, using the direct recording plugin on the recording source tab, is that what you are looking for? Now that i think back on it....the problem has gotten a little worse since i moved up to the latest release, from 96.12. Is it possible that the move to net2.0, and from 96.12 till now, is more cpu intensive....aggravating the problem?

Been a while, but I have more info on this problem. Since my original posting several months ago, I have upgraded from a xp1600 to an xp1900, moved to 1 gig of ram, and bought a new dedicated 400 gig hard drive just for storing recordings. I am still having this issue, and it definately appears to be roughly 5-10 minutes into a recordings that is occurring directly behind another recording. I also tried this......after a recording finished, i went into live tv mode (not live preview)...and it started glitching 5-10 minutes after the previous recording stopped. Something is definately occurring shortly after recordings finish, sub...any ideas on what this could be, or what I can do to figure out what is happening for a short period of time after a recording is made (well, 5-10 minutes after it is made)??
