Hi sub,

I was browsing through the config.xml file to change some encoding settings, and I saw some interesting entries. Particularly

<VMR9CustomUseFullscreenExclusive>false</VMR9CustomUseFullscreenExclusive>
<VMRPreferYUVMixing>false</VMRPreferYUVMixing>
<VMRYUVDynamicDecimateBy2>false</VMRYUVDynamicDecimateBy2>

Are these functional? Because a couple of these would be very useful to me and my underpowered machine...

~Steve

EDIT: Speaking of that, changing the priorities of the client and service were also useful. I didn't realize how powerful the config file was!

These have existed for a couple of releases, but not really that useful, so I didnt intend people to use them.

If you set VMRPreferYUVMixing to 'true', and the user has XP SP2, then it puts the mixer into YUV mode, which uses less CPU - with the major drawbacks being (1) no OSD will be available and (2) some of the aspect ratios modes will not work. If its in YUV mode, you can VMRYUVDynamicDecimateBy2 to 'true' to drop half the horizontal resolution and further reduce the CPU usage.

If you're using the 'VMR9 Custom' renderer and have <VMR9CustomUseFullscreenExclusive>true</VMR9CustomUseFullscreenExclusive>, then it'll use fullscreen exclusive mode which eliminates tearing for some nvidia users. but... due to it being only half implemented, it'll probably only work for the first video you play.
