Anyone ever have problems not being able to fast forward or rewind? I paused a live show, but was unable to skip forward or backwards using the remote or keyboard.

Also, is there any way to search this forum for old posts??

Search is in the top right of the page.

You can FF/RW/Skip etc pre-recorded shows. With Live TV, you can only do this if you are using the SBE option (XP SP1 or higher, viewing via VMR or Overlay).

I am using SBE, with Service Pack 1, VMR 9, but I can't FFWD or RWND live TV at all, i.e. no rewind live tv or anything with pause. You seem to imply this is possible?

Nobody know anything? I keep searching the forums and it keeps saying 'if yo uuse SBE with VMR9, VMR7 or Overlay' then you can fast forward and rewind in Live TV. I am using 350 for input, X-Card for output, have selected SBE, and am using VMR9, but still am unable to do anything like fast forward or rewind in Live TV! Anybody have any ideas?

SBE doesnt work with XCard. You must be playing back on your PC using software decoding.

I dont think microsoft had the XCard in mind when they wrote SBE.

I don't know what SBE does! Is there any way, when using the X-Card, to be able to rewind and fast forward in pause mode, or will that come later? Or never?

The normal Microsoft Directshow components dont let you "seek" in a still growing file.

When they introduced Windows Media Centre Edition (MCE) they need this functionality, so they added a new set of components (SBE) which allowed you to seek in files as they were still being recorded.

That said, I'll find a way to get FF/RW working for the XCard and PVR350 (which is also not compatible with SBE), but I just havn't worked out a solution yet. Believe me - I've spent a lot of time on this.

Thanks Sub, I haven't upgraded to SP1 yet. I'll download and retry.

Thanks for the explanation Sub! Is this by chance the reason it's not possible to view something whilst it is recording? I should imagine that's a pretty tough one to crack, but once you do, it'll be the icing on the cake for GB-PVR! What cards does SBE work with then? I thought I was safe with the 350!
