Hi, this may be a dumb question but I'm gonna ask anyways as I don't know if it is ok to do so or not. Is it OK to do other things on your comptuer while GBPVR is recording? For example, is it ok to borwse the web play some music or vidoes, watch a DVD movie or download files? What about video ediiting like taking out hte commercials out of a previously recorded file? Is it OK to do this while recording? Thanks.

As long as your computer has the horsepower for it, it should be ok. Recording doesn't take much CPU, so you can do pretty much anything while recording... in theory Smile
I'm not always right

i do it all the time. just keep an eye on the cpu usage. if you have problems, set the recording service to above normal priority in config.xml:

<ForceHighPriorityRecordingService>true</ForceHighPriorityRecordingService>

why only above normal? it's high enough. take a read of the following thread, i wouldn't mess with to many processes ;-)

the other way around would be to start whatever else would case trouble / eat cpu cycles (video editing...) with below normal.

I run my machine at 100% cpu 24/7 while running GBPVR, and Quotetracker which is a very intensive stock trading application as well as folding@Home a Stanford protein folding distributed research program. Folding@home keeps the CPU at 100% but releases cycles really well to other apps that need them. I also use comskip and contig with GBPVR and it all runs very well on a 2.8 pentium III with a gig of ram. Primary use for the computer is Quotetracker for business, then GBPVR for pleasure, email and web browsing etc with a little science research thrown in to do my part and not waste any CPU. Smile

I do find I get some video and audio stuttering if I use Video Redo while recording, but pretty well everything else is no problem. I haven't played with changing the priorities, just avoid cideo processing then, or do it on my dual core machine. No problem there. Smile

I used to have a slower computer and if you played a game in the background while recording a show the playback would be very choppy, but now I have a faster system and no problems, I play Half life 2 while recording all the time with no trouble.......memory has allot to do with it as well......
