I was wondering what program's must be running to start a recording. Is only the recording service needed? Or must the GBPVR-program be running also?

I've tried to find out myself, but it seems that my VCR-pc is rather meshed up. If the GBPVR-program is running, but does not have the focus (cause I'm watching a *.avi with an other program because my pc is too slow to watch it with gbpvr), the pc records a show. However, this show does not show up (what a choice of words) in the "recordings".

Should I do a reinstall of my PC?

config:
Pentium 3 866 Mhz 512 MB
PVR350
GBPVR 98.13b + patch for "skip problem"

Update: the show shows up at the recordingpage, but with status "failed". I can import the recording, which works fine.

For GBPVR to record only the recording service is needed. The program itself only functions as the front-end and does not do the recording.

You should post your logs here, and someone might be able to help you figure out what's happening.

Koenie, Stefan, thanks for the replies.
For some reason, I cannot reproduce the problem. Now I know only the recording service is needed, my pc functions properly. (like it didn't know either). I will try to find out what I did wrong and/or post the logs if it happens again.

Well, it seems the problem of recording a show, which is given the status "failed" while it is, in fact, recorded on the harddrive and can be imported, only happens with one show: Medium, scheduled at 2030-2130 at 24-11-06. (reoccuring every week)
Wife not happy, wife has to wait till I get home and "fix" it.

I can delete the reoccuring recording and make a new one. This will probably fix it, cause I think it is meshed up in the database. But I found someone with almost the same problem:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=21866

So it might be some sort of bug??
If some could take a look at it, I would appreciate it.

You'd need to reproduce it with the logging level set back to the default 'debug' level, then post the logs again. The level you have it set to doesnt give much useful info.

Hi Sub,

Well, it happend again. A reoccuring show was recorded, but was set "failed". I can import the recording if I want to (not done yet). This time it's the recording "Star Trek Enterprise_20061128_19001955.mpg". And I seems that it happens often (but I didn't notice it so far, because I don't watch this show very often; although I wondered why I imported 4 recordings when I imported the "Medium" recording (see above posts) for the wife; now I know).
The log level was set to debug. I hope you can figure this one out.

For the record:
GB-PVR 0.98.13b + skip patch for comskip + altered "don't-know-any-more-what-file-but-it-was-to-show-the-episode-name-of-the-show-with-the-blue-skin"
PVR350

Thanks,

Herman
