Hi,

Can anyone advise how to get around the following problem using a Hauppauge Media MVP whilst selecting Live TV "Failed to communicate with Recording Service"?.

I'm using Tftpd32 and a cross-over cable as I've hooked-up my Hauppauge Media MVP directly to my PC (Router is not near a TV Antenna Socket) and have added both the NIC and Media MVP IP addresses as trusted IP addresses in my firewall. Am able to play-back Recorded TV but not watching Live TV isn't possible due to the above error message.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.
Kind Regards Smile.

Hi Sub,

Thank you for your reply. Managed to get Live Tv to play-back however changing channels results in Media MVP being re-booted.

Logs attached as requested.

Thank you Smile.

This is related to trying to use a digital card with Microsoft DVR-MS mux, making .dvr-ms recordings, to play back on a MVP. The MVP can only play .mpg files, so you need to be using either the ATI Mux or Cyberlink mux.

Hi Sub, Thank you for your reply. Please point me in the right direction for reconfiguring GB-PVR as necessary. Thought that I was using a Cybelink Mux (remember registering one anyway). Think that what's needed here is to choose Cyberlink mux as opposed to Microsoft DVR-MS mux (in GB-PVR config) is that correct?.

Regarding playback via the web-interface can you please advise how that should be configured for playback in VLC (or any other package that you'd recommend for recorded program(s) playback)?.

Thank you Smile.

When you run the mux checker, what muxes does it say you have available (incl version numbers)?

Hi Sub,

Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated. Shall post details of muxes later on today including version numbers as requested.
