would be nice to search for all of the text in the epg from zap2it rather than the titles. from what i've read, the search automatically just scans the title. however, certain sports event like college football, the title is 'college football'. u'd have to search for 'college football' and then find the particular team u want to record, i.e. 'usc'. u won't get any results if u typed 'usc'.

hey sub, any possibility this feature of searching the entire zap2it EPG database including the descriptions for any keyword, rather than just searching the title section of the database? would make searching easier as you could type the name of a sports team u want to record, rather than having to type the sport first...and then click a few more times to find the team. would also make finding shows by a particular actor/actress easier.

You might also want to look at the show search plug-in. It has an option to search the description.

how does it work? i'm using keyboard right now. I installed plugin, restarted gbpvr, and i don't find the menu for the plugin anyware. tried typing random letters on keyboard and it didn't pull up the plugin either.

you need to run the config app after installing the plugin to enable it.

i tried it out. at least on my computer, it seemed to have a lag between typing in something and the results appearing. also, i didn't like how the prompt jumped out and asked u to begin typing. would have preferring a box...but this may be more suited for remote controls rather than keyboards.

seems like the plugin has the same problem as the default search engine. for sports events, if you type the name of a team, (i.e. "lakers"), it doesn't bring up all of the lakers' games for the week. instead, you have to type: "basketball", and then scroll around til you find the game you like. thanks for suggestion though.

There is a lag the first time you access the database, and I don't know why. Thereafter searches should be quasi real-time. You can search for single word's, like laker and it will work. You may need to change the mode to be "word starts with" rather than "Starts with". It was designed around use a remote, but I use it from my keyboard all the time.
