I just wondered if anyone uses the live TV feature. I know I don't and never have. I use GBPVR for recording, weather, my videos (a lot), etc. But if I want to watch TV I use the TV tuner instead - isn't that the easiest thing to do?

Live TV all the way! The EPG and usability beats that of my (any) digibox to the point where even my girlfriend thinks so, and shes a real technophobe.
Add to this that I use it to play all my music (ML2) launch games (My programs) and listen to the radio - it's the first application I've found (and I've been titting about with the idea for years) that really does turn the PC into a home entertainment hub (ironically I think that phrase is one of MR B Gates' Smile)

Nope -- never use it. It's just too painful over the MVP.

Yep mainly live tv for me. Thats why fast channel changes on dvb a few releases back was a god send. Now if sub could get it nearly as fast with timeshifting it would be perfect, but I believe he has stated its due to the buffering and the microsofts way of doing things.

When it comes to dvb digital devices in timeshift mode, the biggest delay is caused by the mux filter. The Cyberlink one takes about 3.5 seconds to start producing data, so realistically this equates to about 4 - 4.5 seconds to change channels. The ATI mux is faster, but still nothing like live preview mode.

The delay with analog timeshift could be improved, and has been a bit in the next release.

I do, thats because my tv tuner is broken. I used to use a VCR but this works well for me.

Everything runs through my HTPC.

LiveTV user here.. but we almost never watch true Live TV anymore. Except on the weekends, everything is recorded and watched later. The guide is nicer than what Dish Networks had since I have customized it the way I want it. Switching the TV source to watch directly from antenna or STB is a PITA with my TV so that's another reason for us to use Live TV feature also.
MY PVR:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
Hardware: Silverstone LC13-E, Athlon II 250, Asrock 785GMH, 2GB Corsair RAM, 250GB WD HDD, 1TB WD Black, Hauppauge PVR-150 MCE tuner (s-video to Dish STB), HDHomeRun (ATSC x2), MCE2004 for Rx, USB-UIRT for Tx, Sony VL600 Remote, 36" Sony Wega HD CRT on DVI to embedded ATI HD4200.
