Hey guys I have some issues with the video archive plugin..I cannot seem to figure out how to get it working properly. I have my recordings folder set as D:\recordings and I have another folder called D:\movies where I move the recordings and movies that I want to keep from the recordings folder. Now everything works fine with the video library standard plugin but I cant figure out how to use video archive, how do you configure it? I dont plan on archiving(I dont really understand what that means) I have pointed the DVD section in the configuration of the plugin to D:\recordings and it does show a few of my movies with the actual images but not the rest of them..so I changed the folder path to D:\movies and tried that but even that did not work..on the main GBPVR screen when I click video it shows only a few of my movies on the left with the movie logo..can Jeff or someone else please give me some tips or instructions..I love GBPVR and I think the video archive plugin is just amazing..I appreciate all your great work guys..Thanks again.

Did you add d:\movies to the list of DVD directories on the video archive plug-in config screen? If you did, and are still having problems, if you zip up the .log files in the jeff subdirectory along with your config.xml file and post the lot I can take a look.

Jeff

P.S. The "Archiving" part is just automatically moving old recordings from your main GBPVR recordings directory to one or more other locations. It helps keep space free on the main drive automatically.

Hi Jeff,

From what I have seen, this plugin is excellent. It will make my use of GBPVR much more enjoyable.

I am having the same problem that darklord2005 is having. I have multiple folders setup for DVD video files, but only select folders are being loaded.

If you need to see my log files, which ones would you need?

Thanks,

Hey Jeff thanks for the quick info, so in the main GBPVR config under directories>do I still need to point to a recordings folder? I have it pointing to D:\recordings and then under the video archive plugin I have the dvd section pointing to the same folder..Ideally I would like to point this to my d:\movies folder where I manually move my recordings to. Now in the video archive plugin config screen there is a tab called users I think and it shows two sections on the right side recordings and dvd beneath that I think and it shows my recordings/movies split in the two boxes..I dont know what this section is for or if it has anything to do with the folders..Ill go do some troubleshooting tonite and let you know how it goes.

I agree with CFBRISTOW, last nite I moved all my recordings to my d:\movies folder from the d:\recordings folder(GBPVR main config page has recordings pointing to d:\recordings btw) and then went to video archive config and I didnt specify anything in the archive section but beneath that in the DVD section I pointed it to D:\movies and then on the next tab called users I found 2 sections on the right, the one on top is called recording and the one on bottom is called dvd, whats strange here is that it seems to have grouped my recordings into both these sections and I cant figure out why. After applying the plugin when I go into GBPVR and click on video it shows only some of my movies on the left like around 5 of them and I actually have about 10..Jeff can you give me some tips? do you still need my log files?

Oh Jeff I forgot to mention that I did try using the F11 function to refresh the directories but all it did was show a spinning hourglass and nothing happened.

You don't need to worry about the user's tab unless you want to grant restricted viewing rights to some users 9like kids, for example). I don;t use it myself but added at some other user's request. If you can do what you did before (press F11 to try to refill the lists) and then zip up and post the log files and config.xml file I can probably find the problem very quickly. Without them it will be very hard.

Jeff
One thing to note is, if I run getdvdinfo program directly, the folders are traversed properly and information for all video files is retrieved. I can then go into the editdvdinfo and see the retrieved information. So the problem is limited to the loading of the list to be displayed by gbpvr.

I will send the logs and config file later this evening.
Thanks,

Hi,

I found the problem that was causing my videos not to load in the list. This may be by design, but it seems a little strange.

What I have to do is place all video files in sub directories of the video folder or share. Only videos in the sub directories are loaded and those in the root of the share are not loaded.

This is not really that big a deal, but it seems a little strange. If it is by design, it should be noted in documentation.

Otherwise, the plugin works quite will. I also installed the 99.5 version of gbpvr and the plugin is still working fine.

Thanks,

I ended up loading the latest version of gbpvr and then installed the video archive plugin, I have my recorded movies and shows under one folder now and although video archive is able to find most of the recordings its unable to find a movie I recorded last nite, it instead shows up in the dvd list surprisingly and I cant get it to show up with the other recorded movies lists..in the plugin setup I dont have any dvd folders specified so I dont know whats going on..can you give me instructions on how to setup this plugin properly? also its not showing any pictures of the movies I have recorded even after pressing f11 or running getdvd info(this is not a major issue)
Is it possible to have recordings under one folder and movies under another?
In the main gbpvr settings i have recordings directory pointing to d:\recordings and the video library pointing to d:\recording as well with nothing configured in the video archive plugin..is this the right way? Im so confused
