Once in a while, I have restarted the recording service while a recording is in progress. An example is when I'm working on configuring a plugin via the config program or something on my PC goes haywire and I have to restart it.

The recording will end up in two parts, with only the last one accessible via the Recordings function.

My wishlist entry would be... that the recording would either:

a) Append to the recording that already exists
or
b) Show both entries in the Recordings (which brings up a start stop time wishlist item)

I also recall that the Recordings show the time slot. (like 9:00 PM -10:00 PM) It would be nice if it showed the actual record times especially if the recording was split. Would also be helpful information on an incomplete recording.

I'm doing a lot of tweaking currently, otherwise this would be less of an issue.

I figure the append idea would be difficult, as timecoding would probably be screwed up. I'm guessing it would not be to bad to show the broken pieces in the Recordings would not be a big deal to do, but showing the actual record times on the recording screen probably would be a bit of a database thing. Another expample of it would be where a program in progress is selected to record. The time it shows is from the guide, instead of showing the actual start time of the recording.

... oh yeah, didnt think of that.

Just thought I'd bring up something that I have seen as a small hole. When the recording service is interupted, the first MPG is orphaned. This is an easy situation to recreate, and just seems like something that would be handled better then orphaning it, especially since it is playable video.

I would really like to see this handled better, too.

If sub doesn't want to do it, perhaps someone else could build a tool that would do it in PostProcessing.bat? It should be pretty easy to identify the other partial recordings and merge them together. It should probably insert a few seconds of "Recording Interrupted" in between each section.

This would definitely be helpful for those of us who experience frequent power outages which produce one (or more!) orphaned MPGs per recording...

I would also like to see something done about this, as while I have an UPS it is in need of a new battery & yes I will do something about that as soon as I can afford it. But recently (for some reason or other) & an UPS wouldn't solve this problem, my GBPVR server has been doing the "Windows has recovered from a fatal error" routine (seems to only happen after a re-boot normally after windows updates & only occurs for about a week or two) But this causes the files to be split (as well as a few choice words from me) While I know this is a problem with my machine it would be nice if the files could be joined back together so they were watchable!
