I cannot get my Hauppauge WinTV-HVR 1300 to pickup Five. I am certain I can receive it in my area, and I can get other channels, like Channel 4, but not Five. Is there any way I can add it manually, or help it pick it up?

What info do I need to give you?

Any help much appreciated,

Does the Hauppauge software pick it up?

Is this a channel that runs all day, or only part of the day?

Err..no. The Hauppauge software doesn't pick it up either. It broadcasts 24/7.

I'm not sure, but its odd that neither GB-PVR or the Hauppauge software are picking it up.

Neither does MediaPortal, which I dumped for GB-PVR Big Grin Specifying the frequency (842000 kHz) also shows a blank list of available channels. Bugger.

Are you missing other channels? They're transmitted as a mux (group) of channels, usually about 5 or 6 channels. I'd expect if you're not receiving one of these muxes, then the signal strength/quality on that mux is probably not good enough for the device to get a lock.

It is normal for different muxes to have different strength/quality, so this one particular mux is probably falling below the required level. If this is the case, you may need to adjust your aerial, or remove any splitter you've got in the feed.

I have a similar problem with my nova-t 500, but the hvr-1100 picks it up fine (no idea why). Channel five is on a particularly rubbish 64qam mux (mux A) and can be a complete swine to pick up. you'll probably find you're missing the rest of the channels on that mux as well - five us, five life, abc1 and a few others.

The freeview transmission mostly sucks in the uk - too low powered for fear of interfering with analogue transmissions.

What you (both) say makes sense. I read about the mux thing. And yes, the whole mux is missing. Don't suppose I can force it to show me what it gets, or otherwise convince it to find it? EDIT: besides what sub said, I'd like to know everything Tongue

Thanks

Its pretty much all or nothing with digital, so no not really.

As I said above, you could adjust your aerial, or remove any splitter you've got in the feed, or maybe look at adding a mast-head amplifier, or switch devices in hopes of finding one with a better tuner.

Okay, thanks. It answers the question that's been bugging me all day. I'll do it tomorrow, thanks again!
