After finally moving from MyVideos to Video Archive I have a question. After scanning all my videos using the GetDVDinfo tool, I get alot of movies where it can not find a match. This usually happens with movies in 2 parts where the files are called CD1 and CD2, but also on other movies. How do I redo the lookup towards IMDB? I have tried to use DVD info editor but it would be nice if you can avoid doing all the work manually. Is there a way to add functionality in that tool (DVD Info editor) with, lets say a button "Get IMDB info" using the title you have written instead of the filename?

Also, I would love to also get IMDB rating.

I guess I am asking for 2 new features, or maybe I am doing someting wrong?

It should be doing an IMDB lookup automatically if the lookup at amazon.com fails. If you look in the jeff subdirectory you will see a file called InternetInfoFetcher-PC.log or InternetInfoFetcher-MVP.log that will tell you what the plug-in did. If you could post those that would be helpful.

Jeff, thanks for you reply. Yes, it does a lookup but it fails since my filenames includes CD1, CD2, Eng Sub, etc. Below is an extract from the log file which will show what I mean.

Code:

01-02-07 10:26:17:765 [20]            Found entry on Amazon: Profile For mrdisco33
01-02-07 10:26:17:828 [20]               moviename=Profile For mrdisco33
01-02-07 10:26:17:828 [20]               runtime=

01-02-07 10:26:17:828 [20]         GetDVDDescriptionFromWeb done for file Match Point CD1.avi
01-02-07 10:26:17:843 [20]         UpdateDVDDescription done for file Match Point CD1.avi

After this lookup, I need to use the tool DVD info editor to edit the incorrect title "Profile For mrdisco33" and then I manually need to enter other information. It is at this step where I would love to do a new lookup based on the new title I enter. Or is there something I am doing wrong? Any setting where you can specify lookup parameters?

Also there are other information I would like to show, such as release year, actors, director, IMDB rating. Is there any plans to expand on these?

You could try renaming the file in windows to end with D1 rather than CD1. This would automatically trim Match Point D1.avi to Match Point, for example.

Year of release is already fetched if present, along with runtime, genre, and tagline. I am thinking about adding the other info to the lookup.

Jeff, thanks for your suggestion. However, it did not work. This time the file Match Point D1.avi resulted in "Sharp DV-L80U Portable DVD Player" which is a funny title for a film Smile

Is there any other tweek I can do?

And, it sounds cool that you are looking into getting that additional info. In order to display for example the release date and genre which is available now, what do I do?

Try the community skin. In the preview mode it lists the genre and runtime as well as the name, description, and icon. To get to this view, press the blank or stop button on your remote.

You can add this information to any skin theme. The skin already supports the variables @Genre, @Runtime, @Rating, @Director, @Writer, @UserRating , @Votes, @Tagline, and @YearOfRelease. Genre, Runtime, Tagline, and YearOfRelease work today. Once the plug-in starts to populate the other fields they will show up on the UI if you have them in the skin.

Thanks, I will try it. I do use the community skin.

No other suggestions on the lookup issue for movies with additional text in their file name?

Jeff,

I have done some more research and found the following.

Changing the title to Match Point 1.avi does actually help since it is beeing found on amazon using this lookup string "http://www.google.com/search?as_q="DVD:"+Match Point 1"&&as_sitesearch=amazon.com&btnI=I%27m+Feeling+Lucky" However it does not download any poster or other information but just enters correct title.

If the same lookup logic is applied to IMDB ie "http://www.google.com/search?as_q="DVD:"+Match Point 1"&&as_sitesearch=imdb.com&btnI=I%27m+Feeling+Lucky" it does also find it but the logic is not included in your lookupcode.

Dont know if this is done on purpose from your side or if it is a bug?

I'm not finding the image because Amazon changed the format of their web page. I'll work on updating this for the next release.

Ok, thanks. That explains it.

Is there any way I can get you to add the IMDB search logic I mentioned in earlier post "http://www.google.com/search?as_q="DVD:"+Match Point 1"&&as_sitesearch=imdb.com&btnI=I%27m+Feeling+Lucky" since I would prefer to get an IMDB hit? Or is there an advantage to use Amazon?
