Happy new year. New version of MusicLibrary2 Available on the wiki: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/MusicLibrary2

Changes include:
05-Jan-2007 - Version 5.2
  • Followed GBPVR and made the internal MusicLibrary2 logs appear in the logs directory
  • Added configurable screen layouts rather than the default Artist/Album, Genre/Artist etc.
  • Added Composer as a tag (usable in the above configurable screens).
  • Made the noindex.txt file name configurable (exclude file)
  • Made exclude file recursive
  • Changed random playlist code to limit the number of tracks returned to a random set based on the average track length - should speed random playlist creation
  • Added a Remove (All) Option - which removes the “All” option from the left hand panel - should made start up faster for those with large collections

  • NOTE: This version will re-create your database so for users with large collections the update will be pretty long!!

Great, the composer is there! And it's made configurable.
I am installing it right now. I noticed that I lost my paths to the music directories and collections. For me not a major problem, because I had only two of them.

Edit: It seems to work well. The configurable selections now make it easy to select the same songs performed by different artists etc. Downside is that I have quite a job in cleaning up the ID3 tags.

@Psycik: In you ToDo list the number 1 is:
Quote:Multiple artists? - add option to take ‘&’ ‘and’ ‘/’ ‘feat’ and treat as sep artists, exclude certain ones (Simon and Garfunkel” )

1) I would suggest to extend this to the Composer field as well.
2) At present I use a semicolon ';' as separator. I would like to change that right now to your preferred separator, as I have to do quite a bit of cleaning in the Artist and Composer fields. Could you indicate your peference?

Hey Psycik,
I'm not sure if anyone has asked this already but I will run it by you. I was wondering if you could give me the option to load my "collection" by simply giving you playlists instead of recursively looping through directories. Basically I want to be able to disassociate the physical layout of my music with what gets loaded into ML2. The "noindex" enhancement is a GREAT step in the right direction but I was thinking this would be even better.
Example: For one of my collections I would give you the directory /XMas. Inside this directory I would have several playlists related to XMas music. To load the collection, ML2 would open up every playlist in that directory and load those songs into the collection. Another collection might be my "5 Star" albums etc.
The "Music Player" plugin works similarly but it only allows for one collection. It would be wicked if you could expand on this.

thanks for reading

I don't have a current preference. It was something someone indicated they would like a while ago (it may have been you). I don't think it woul dbe something I would use personally.

That certainly could be an option for the future....I'll add to the list..

No it wasn't me who suggested it. I was the one who asked for the composer, and as said I am very happy with it now.
The value of a separate per artist selection is that you can also search for the 'lower gods'. In classical music it are mostly the top artists (or the gorgeous ladies Big Grin) that rank first in the list. So an option like this would be kind to 'the young and the ugly', and helpful for me.

PS: The screensaver on MVP still does not update the actual position in the track. Situation is pretty much as I reported in release 4.3

Hello Psycik

Thanks for the update with composer field in MDB.
But I still have serious problems when using the plugin after scanning.
Problems seems to be database related.
Songs are not showing in Title list view or List bars focus is "jumping around"
When I press Enter to show info about a title, I usually press left or right arrow by mistake and then I get an error: Index out of range, can not be negative.......

Is there a way to make MusicLibrary2 to play a song with Enter instead of using Play. (I make that mistake to often)

Can you please put up v 4.4 or the one before v5.2 for download, so I can continue with the skinning and usage. (It got overwritten)
Best Regards

Can you post me some logs of the errors you are having so I can look at them??

I don't have the old 4.4 version any more, I don't tend to keep them. I might be able to get if from my source control or perhaps somebody else has an old version.

I'd prefer to fix your problem...

As to the enter to play instead of play, I think someone else has asked for that, and I think it's on my list...

MixMan, can you also send me your DB (to my email listed in my profile).

I want to have a look at the year field and see if there is anything there. I can't see what is wrong from that error.

Does stuff show up when it starts to get that error message? - Can you let me know a series of keystrokes to cause that error and I'll see if I can reproduce...
