video decoder

Can anyone tell me what the best video decoder to use with GBPVR, I currently have intervideo and nero installed and they both stink.

I would prefer the best free one, I really don't want to have to buy one.

There are several good forum threads with advice on where to start looking at decoders. Here is a recent thread discussing this sbuject:

Of course it depends on your system specs and so forth.

One of the most popular "free" decoders is the
GPL MPEG-1/2 DirectShow Decoder Filter
