Found this article I thought might be interesting to people here.

http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/01/15/...00_avdesk/

If you don't want to run Cat5 cables around your house to your network kit (MVP) but have problems streaming reliably over WiFi this will put Ethernet over your existing house mains power cables.

I know similar powerline kit has been available for a long time, but this works to a much higher speed. Units give 200Mbps physical layer bandwidth, the tester says he got a TCP bandwidth of 43.5Mbps which should be good enough for most things.

I've been running the netgear proprietry 200Mbps kit for a while now (HDX101). Works really well, apart from some funnies if you connect an MVP directly to it. None of the irritations of a wifi link, just a little pricey, but well worth the WAF factor of not running cat5 all over the place!

I know mdnttoker is also running these, and has no problems at all. Well worth a look.

Has any one had any success with the older 85Mbps specification - as its a bit more affordable? I would be looking at streaming from a client to an mvp

There wasn't a huge difference price wise last time I looked between the 85 Mbps and the 200 Mbps kit. I looked upon the difference as future proofing (a bit) e.g. "5 GB hard drive... i'll never fill that!" Rolleyes.
