My system: Hauppauge PVR150 USA I have Zap2it and I am able to update the EPG.
First of all I am a noob talk to me like I am dumb. I am trying to figure out what is going on with my live TV channels.I am able to see all channels perfectly in WinTV2000 but not in GBPVR. I do not use a set top box it is connected directly into my PVR card.I use the 45 button controller that comes with the card I have done the fix button for it and it seems to work correctly for everything I have tried so far.
The first 10 or so channels come in fine with a few in between them that fuzz out, but the higher I go the worse it gets. They get staticy out of tune and no volume. I have tried to use Freq copy and it did not work it created the registry group but did not assign any values to the channels. I have used the tunning assistant and gotten some frequency numbers. I see where you can edit the channels in the channel config area but I have not found out what format you are supposed to put them in I saw one example that was ###,### but my freqs from Tunning assistant are 8 numbers long.

Under Hauppauges channels each entry reads like this
Name Type Value 1_0_8_1_1_10 reg_binary a long hex value

Under TVServices created by FreqCopy
Name Type Data
10 Reg DWord 00x00000

This is like this all the way down now the last numbers in hauppauge match exactly to the names in TVServices. in TV Services I tried modifying the registry Data section to accept a decimal of the frequency from Tunning assistant so I selected decimal and input the 8 digit number. No go on that though. I also went into the edit channels under the capture source and put in the first 6 characters in the channel box that didnt work though. The only thing I can think of is there a service that needs to be restarted or something after making the registry changes or is my formatting off or am I way off. Thanks for looking at this.

I seem to remember that one revision of the card shipped flakey drivers that would cause this sort of behaviour. So if you're using drivers that came with your PVR150 on CD, I'd recommend updating to the newest drivers on http://www.hauppauge.com

EDIT: actually try these ones, http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=14006

well I went out and got the latest drivers and removed the old. Note to others following their instructions will blowout everything. So I lost my old wintv schedule and I have to reinstall IRBlaster when I get home. I took a look though at GBPVR and the first channel I looked itat is still pretty fuzzy. I could tell even through remote. Is there something that I need to do from within GBPVR now that I have blown out all the wintv stuff and reinstalled? and rescanned all of my channels? Thanks for the quick response, I went with the latest drivers because I think they just came out a few days ago.

You shouldnt have to do anything like that. Directshow is supposed to take care of all the tuning stuff automatically.

forgive me do I have to do anything special to get directshow enabled or looking in the right place or is this handled on the Gbpvr installation.
Just to clarify some of my channels work great. where others I can see the picture but it is b/w or fuzy or both and no sound.

You should have to do anything. Windows does all this be default. Its should just work.

GB-PVR effectively test Windows to change to a channel based on the country, tuning type and channel number, then it takes card of these rest. For example, it might say to Windows to switch to USA/Cable/12.

Does the tuning assistant utility show the same thing?

show the same thing as what? you mean I should be able to see TV in the tuning assistant? If so then no I get a black screen in the Tuning assistant but I get the message box showing the frequencey and the channel number. I installed Wintv2000 beta it has a tv channel scan program that other version doesnt may be helpful it scanned all channels NTSC-M USA CABLE and found all of my channels. Visually they look good I am not at home so cannot hear.

The same thing as you see in GB-PVR.

Yes, but probably not via a remote connection, which I think you mentioned above (since it uses the Overlay renderer).

Unfortunately WinTV doesnt use Directshow for tuning, so its not a good comparision.
