I recently installed Vista Buisness on my computer.

My main drive is a 250GB Sata 2 drive that was running XP SP2 and GBPVR.
I'm using a Hauppauge PVR150 card on US Cable TV.

I shrunk the 250 drive to 150GB and installed Vista Business on the last 100GB of the drive.

After that, somehow my XP tv-tuner drivers got botched and I haven't been able to get that fixed. I've uninstalled everything, software, drivers and GBPVR with no luck. So i decided to try my luck with Vista.

I installed GBPVR on Vista with no problems. I configured the settings, updated the EPG and launched. The program seems to run fine, but when I want to watch Live TV I get audio but no video and the screen shows the last menu I was on. So if i go from tv guide and pick a show then pick watch, that whole menu stays on the screen. If i go straight to LiveTV the screen freezes as is.

I can right click and GBPVR handles it properly, it goes back to the main menu which is navigateable and i can load videos from YouTube and the video library without issues and they play fine.

Where should I start hunting this problem down? Drivers? Logs?

Need more information?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Do you have video decoder installed?

Zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

If I remember correctly, everything is set for System Default.

I will attach the logs when I get home in a few hours, I am at work right now with no access to my home comp.

I dont think Vista Business has a MPEG2 video decoder installed by default, so you would have needed to install one, or some software that included one.

I'm also having this problem - and alas it seems really difficult to find a codec that works. Installing VLC doesn't work, I'm currently watching DVDs through Nero home, which hasn't worked - I can't get GBPVR working (I get a blank screen) and I can't get DVDs to play in Media Player.

VLC doesnt install any video decoders.

Common decoders people install are included Cyberlink PowerDVD or Intervideo WinDVD, or the nvidia purevideo decoders from the nvidia store, and there are a few free ones on the net (gplmpgdec from http://sourceforge.net/projects/gplmpgdec/ and 'mpv decoder from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm)

I installed the gplmpgdec decoder and rebooted and got the following error:

"Error: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt."

I set the decoder back to system default and i get the audio but no video again.

Here are my log files:

I installed the codec package from: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/...kage.shtml

And then set the video coded in GBPVR to "CyberLink Video/SP Decoder" and everything seems to work properly.

Thanks for your help.
