Hello,

This is a great program. When I read that it could be used as client/server setup i was very pleased (especially since sub has made it painless by including the option in the config). For the most part the software is working great for me...much better than the wintv2000 software that came with my HVR-950 tuner. The one problem I keep having, even after scouring the forums and trying different things to fix the problem, is LiveTV in client mode. When I select live tv it "starts timeshift" then eventually dumps me to the gbpvr start screen with "Error: Failure playing back file". I believe I have both read and write privilege to the target folder (and I am using file sharing mode). Couple of other notes...LiveTV works great when I have the tuner attached to my client machine (and obviously then i have client mode disabled), and I am able to view recordings great when I am in client mode.

Any ideas? I have attached my log files.

Thanks to sub for his excellent work on this program!

There are some problems with trying to do DVR-MS playback (incl live tv) from a client PC. I havnt spent any time looking into it yet, but I'm wondering if its something to do with Microsoft DRM or something similar (seriously).

Thanks for the response sub!

After reading the post about ts files today, i installed HDTVpump. I was now able to get LiveTV on one of my client boxes, but still couldn't get it on the client that originally sent the logs on. What I see is the "Starting Timeshift..." message, and that lasts for maybe 10 to 20 seconds, then the screen goes blank. If I move the curser to get the OSD to pop up, it shows the chanel and program info and the status bar, but the bar doesn't move. If i press ctrl-q it does nothing (even if i press it again). Any ideas?

Also a couple of probably unrelated questions:
1. What is the difference between ts mux and transport stream in the BDA multiplexer pull down? I was only able to get client/server to work with the ts mux choice.

2. I am assuming the mux choice only matters on the server?

3. Are there any settings that must be the same on the server and client? i.e television shape or VMR setting, etc?

I have attached new logs.

Thanks again!

Unfortunately you cant use the ts mux option for live tv, only for recording. The ts mux option is only very new, introduced in v.99.5, and can only be used for recording at this stage. It may change in the future though (I have done a little extra work in this area for the next release).

To use a client PC for now, you'll probably find you need to use a mux that produces a .mpg file (ie, Cyberlink or ATI mux).
