What does that zip file listed in the survival guide do for DishNetowrk users?

No description of what it does, even if you download, there is no readme file.

Can someone please clarify what does it do?
(I am a DishNetwork customer, but my system works fine as far as I know for the most part).

The patch is for dvb-s users. Are you using your dish box or a dvb-s card?

Now I try searching for a card to receive dishnetwork channels (and stop using my STB) I cannot find any (or at least not sure if it will work).

How Dishnetwork will verify my subscription?
I thought they use a special modulation that is not standard? is it?

is this even possible? a PC card that receives dishnetwork channels and verifies my subscription?

People are doing it using DVB-S card plus multidec plugins. See http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=22637

I see.

Do I need to buy anything special besides that Twinhan capture card?

What is 'Multidec'? is it hardware? Sofware?

I read thru that post, but it mainly discuss some HD tuning issue, but cannot figure out what hardware ...etc. is used?

Sorry for such a stupid question, but I never thought that it is at all possible?

Anybody can link to somewhere with more info?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Multidec plugins are software that gets put in the GB-PVR 'MDPlugins' directory. Some multidec plugins require hardware also, like a smartcard reader. I'm not in that part of the world, and not a Dish user, so not sure exactly what multidec plugins people use end up using, so I cant really provide you any detailed info.

I think the multidec plugins for Dish are little on the "dodgy" side of the law, but if you're a Dish subscriber, then I think you're morally in the clear (even if not legally so). So you may find discussion beats around the bush, rather than giving you the concrete details you're looking for. Your best bet is to PM someone thats doing it and ask them for details.

You might also be able to get info from http://dvbn.happysat.org/.

Thanks a lot sub.

Anyone using this with dishnetwork? or knows how to use it?

I googled some stuff, but I think my search is not dead-on yet, so I will try other searchs.

cool. thanx sub.

I am not planning to do anything illegal, as I am a long time subscriber (plus the monthly payment is not that bad, so not worth the risk).
I am aware of friends using other special STB to get illegal access to dishnetwork, but for me it is not worth the risk (not even close).

BUT I will try to find more info, as this should mean much better recording and cleaner signal, as the recording happens in the digital domain, and not thru RCA cable like I use now Smile

If someone knows any info about this, please PM me.
