I haven't had a tuner in my dev system for over a year but have been able to use it for plugin development anyway.

I recently tried a WinTV-HVR 950 in my dev system to see if the antenna on top of our condo building gets OTA HD channels. I didn't get any digital channels so I uninstalled the HVR 950 and ran HWCLEAR.EXE to get rid of some stuff it left behind in the system tray. I guess the HWCLEAR also removed some drivers that the PVR-150 had left behind during its brief stay in my dev system and now I can't add any capture devices in gbpvr's config as it complains about drivers not being present.

Is there any way I can use the analog side of the WinTV-HVR 950 in gbpvr? Is there a way to setup a "fake" tuner in config.exe so I can associate an EPG to it and use my dev system for plugin development? Does anybody have an old tuner they never plan to use they want to get rid of?

I just got laid off so "go buy a xyz" is not a good suggestion as far as WAF (minister of finance) goes. I'll probably return the HVR 950 if I can't use it in my gbpvr dev system since the analog picture quality is much worse than with my PVR-150's.

If you have Hauppauge SoftPVR installed, then it might work. If you have this installed, does any supported cards get listed?

I had installed all the hauppauge stuff which includes Soft PVR. In gbpvr's config.exe when I selected to show only devices detected on this system it said no supported devices were found. I still tried to add each of the Hauppauge devices but it complained that drivers were missing and asked if I wanted to save anyways. Even after saying yes, I still had no capture source so I can't setup an EPG.

Did I have to configure something in Soft-PVR first? The only hauppauge app I tried was WinTV and the analog channels were quite noisy compared to the PVR-150.

If you do a forum search for filtercheck, then run it and attach the resulting filtercheck.log then I'll take a look.

In the Filtercheck.log it shows up as "WinTV HVR-980". That's also what appears in the windows device manager. On the device itself it's physically printed "WinTV HVR-950". I'm also getting an error when clicking on the "Add" button in the capture sources tab (screenshot and filtercheck.log attached).

You could try adding the following to direct.ini, then try to create a capture source for this device. It might not work, but post the logs after trying it with live tv and I'll take a look.

I have no tuner or Hauppauge software on my laptop, but have an EPG set up. It thinks I have a PVR-150 but I don't. Just told it to ignore errors or something to that effect when setting it up. I have 5mb "Dummy" mpg files named and imported into the database to simulate having a dozen recordings.

I can do everything but liveTV on it.

Yeah, I realised that name was wrong, but I'd hoped it would work anyway.

If you download GraphEdit and do an 'insert filters' from the menu, and expand the 'directshow' section, is there any filter that sounds like it might be the audio capture or audio encoder filter?

I tried a bunch of them without success. Is there an external way we can see what WinTV is using while it is running or does WinTV not use directshow at all?

Thanks for all the help!
