UbuRadio lets you play web radio streams from within GB-PVR. The Find Stations button lets you pick from hundreds of stations worldwide. You can then play them directly or add them to a Favourites list for later playback. Playback via MediaMVP is supported for most stations.

UbuRadio differs from the standard Net Radio plugin in that it is not confined to playing Shoutcast streams. Pretty much any audio stream format (Windows Media, RealAudio, MP3, OggVorbis, etc.) can be played.

Find out more and download the zip on the UbuRadio wiki page.

Ubu

1. Installing. Had to Stop Recording service to delete/overwrite existing files. Is this OK?
2. Two existing files AxInterop.WMPLib.dll (48kb) and Interop.WMPLib.dll (268kb) are newer in the gbpvr dir than your ones? (Diff size too? 60kb, 324kb). 11 Dec vs. 6 Dec.? Should I overwrite?
3. And the Common Utilities file from the WIKI's ("Easy Install") required by the New Plugin and 184kb (current) vs. 9kb (wiki) = CommonGBPVRUtilities.dll is Aug 2005 vs. Jan 2007 current?
4. GbpvrUiElements.dll WIKI version is newer than current so I overwrote that.
5. Maybe the files I didn't install were troublesome because hitting "Install" on the service controller gave me this error:

Code:

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I'd imagine that the latest version of everything would be best.

#1 - Do you mean you had to stop the GB-PVR recording service in order to install the plugin dlls? If so, which dll? I'll add it to the wiki instructions. Or are you referring to the UbuRecordingService?

#2 - Maybe I shouldn't include the WMP activex dlls since GB-PVR already installs them.

#3 - UbuRadio should work with either. (I think :confused: ).

#4 - Not sure what you mean by "current". It should work with v0.5.0 and above.

Would it be possible to have the install either overwrite older one automatically or prompt with newer=better?

Sorry I didn't catch which dll was in there :o . I used to have an older Ubustream running back last year but have not tried recently.

Current = Existing i.e. what was in there when did the install.

Can you move this thread from my first post down, sorry, I posted in wrong thread :o

Did you see #5 error?

Is Windows Media Player 10 a requirement as stated on the Wiki or will WMP9 work? Win2k doesn't support WMP10.

Right now, there is no install program. Just the zip file. Maybe later I'll get around to putting together a proper installer.

There are no dependencies on UbuStream so that probably wasn't the dll. If we're talking about the GB-PVR recording service it may have been the WMP activex dlls.

The CommonGbpvrUtilities and the GbpvrUiElements dlls are not distributed as part of GB-PVR. That's why I've got them listed as prerequisites on the wiki page. It's always best to download the latest and greatest versions. You may have old versions of these from when you installed them to support another plugin (your old version of UbuStream, for instance).

Which thread? I'm seeing your posts on this thread.

I guess you added this one later. Looks like you are missing the Windows Service Installer app. Are you running XP or Win2K? The UbuRecordingService is only needed for playing streams in Timeshift mode so UbuRadio "should" work in Preview mode without it.

I listed WMP 10 as a requirement because that's what I used to test the activex interface (for the embedded WMP internal player). There's no reason I know of that earlier WMP versions wouldn't work. I just haven't tested with them. I should probably make that clear on the wiki page.

No worries, perhaps just add a note to the WIKI not to overwrite newer files if they exist?

For Ubustream yes I think it must have been the WMPs. wrt CommonGbpvrUtilities and GbpvrUiElements those files were already there, a newer & older one respectively (i.e. were in the GBPVR Folder already).

ubu Wrote:Which thread? I'm seeing your posts on this thread.
Sorry, I meant THIS thread (to be moved to Plugins, Ubustream Forum), as this thread is Community Announcements and you asked (in the WIKI) for support to be posted to Plugins. :o

Yes, I did (sneaky of me wasn't it :-) ). WinXP. I tried both modes. No Joy. How do I enable or install the "Windows Service Installer app." or check that it's installed or not? I googled "Windows Service Installer" but most of what comes up on page 1 is not Microsoft Related. I then found and downloaded Windows Installer 3.1 Redistributable (v2), but that didn't fix the error?

Seems reasonable that people get to ask a few questions on this thread before I start insisting they use the plugin support sub-forum. Smile

The Windows service installer app is InstallUtil.exe and it's part of the .Net 2.0 distribution (so you should already have it). You may have to be logged on with an administrator id to run it. Not sure. I'm away from my development machine right now so I can't check this. I'll have a look when I get home. For now, you could try typing InstallUtil at a DOS prompt and see what you get.

Ran that, but same error :-(
