Theres a great website for UK TV listings - http://www.bleb.org/tv/ - it carries all the terrestrial and major satellite channels and best of all you can download xml directly from it.

I dunno if this would be a problem, but the xml is not in xmltv format.

I use DGShow to grab the listings and convert them to something a bit more friendly

I use bleb for my tv listings. Using GRABEPG for extacting the  from bleb and point GB-PVR to the xml file and it works great.
Try this link http://gbpvr.com/cgi-bin....grabepg  for info

Hi Guys,
What made you choose this source over say xmltv? I haven't looked at blebtv for a while but it didn't appear to have all the channels I wanted. I was also impressed the other day that xmltv now gets 14 days worth of UK listings too rather than the limitations it used to have when using Annanova. I've spotted some glitches in the data when viewing the guide on the GBPVR but haven't checked to see if this was xmltv's fault or GBPVR.
Cheers

I use bleb for a few reasons...

1) The majority of shows I record are covered by the channels that bleb covers. I dont use gbpvr for live tv, so I use the SKY epg for watching telly.

2) I had problems automating xmltv grabs in the past - it used to put an extra line at the bottom of the xml that would cause SageTV to crap out.

3) Blebs listings seem to provide a lot more summary details for each show - which makes it a lot easier to see if your recording a repeat. I think xmltv can grab more info too ( the --slow switch rings a bell) but its slow enough just grabbing the basic details.

I did email the bleb guy to ask permission for me writing a bleb plugin for GB-PVR that would directly pull UK listings from his site but I never heard back from him so I did take this any further.

I was thinking of adding a bleb plugin to the EPG source options. The idea was...Select bleb, hit settings, it show you a list of the available channels, tick the ones you want, done - no xmltv required for UK users.

sub - I dont think the bleb guy is that great at replies. I sent him a few lists of extra sources he could scrape for listings without ever hearing back.

But fortunately I dont think you need his permission. See http://www.bleb.org/tv/data/listings/ for details.

I'll look at it again in the near future, but I'm booked up already for the next few weeks.

Welshblob,

How do you use XMLTV? I've set up a config file to capture just under 100 channels and trying to get 7 days of data using:

xmltv tv_grab_uk_rt --days 7 --slow

After about 3 hours of it capturing data I gave up (I'm on broadband). Is there a way of increasing the speed other than cutting down the channels? I noticed using --slow captures more than I need, I just want the programme summary.

Is it possible for example to do one large capture to start off, then using the --offset option just capture 1 day and add it to the end of the existing file, so you always have X days of data, but only download 1 day, every day?

Any advise would be great, I'm back to using GrabEPG again.

Cheers, Rob

If you remove the --slow switch it will run a lot faster. Though you lose all the summary details for the shows.
